THE BEST KJV BIBLE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED!
I have purchased MANY King James Version Bibles and this is the by and far the best purchase I have every made. Here are the reasons why:1. This is the "The Old Scofield Study Bible" with 1917 notes - nothing is better if you like conservative, concise, and complete notes. The notes are confident and correct. My edition box says "Anniversary Edition" (100 years).2. This is a 12-point font, large print. It is perfect! The font size alone is not what is only important. There is some white space between lines which helps one read it, the ink to paper contrast is excellent, and the font itself is conservative and clear to read. I am very particular about this since my close vision is not so great. This is true 12-point font unlike some other Bibles I have.3. The leather is "genuine" leather not "bonded" leather. Bonded leather can be terrible, it is mulched up leather bits put in a chemical brew and bonded with rubber. It can stink for months to years. Genuine leather is softer and does not smell.4. The "subject" chains are second to none in this 1917 version. Similar but better (in my humble opinion) to the Thompson Chain Reference Bible. The Scofield take the most critical and sometimes complex subjects and walks you through the Old and New Testaments in a logical manner to let the Scripture explain Scripture.5. The Bible text itself is clean with the references in a centerline a to z (and to aa, bb, when needed only sometimes) very easy to follow. The notes on the bottom of the page are numbered 1, 2, 3,.... etc. and linked to the chapter and verse above.6. The Bible is exactly: 10.5 inches x 7.5 inches x 1.5 inches as measured by the leather-to-leather outer boundaries. It fits perfectly in my large bible case. The paper is high quality and is 1,610 pages long plus maps. There is one gold ribbon maker and the pages are gilded gold.7. There are many other nice but not over the top features, very clean and well thought out by someone. It is a red letter edition with the historical date at the top of each center column. The short book introductions are excellent and there is a beautiful presentation page on parchment! This Bible is printed in Korea and not China which means a lot to me. The Korean printing beautiful and I have MANY Korean Christian friends who treat the Bible with care and respect and it is shown through in this printing and the care that Oxford Press put into the design and quality. the binding is Smith sewn and lays flat.8. Finally, I am amazed at the reasonable price and am thankful to Oxford for making this quality of Bible available on Amazon and then having it Prime too. It came in a box from Oxford fully protected.-- 2 Peter 1:2 (KJV) !

The best study Bible!
I study the word of God just about every day. This is the best study Bible in KJV, I have come across. This Scofield Study Bible, really breaks down the Word of God. It's bigger than your average Bible, but this is what I was looking for. If you are looking for a great study Bible, I highly recommend this one!

Good to have both
Bible is large print. Center column references are easy to read. Not a premium Bible. You can tell by the paper and ghosting. As far as old notes. I am not the one that can tell you in detail. Very large concordance. The font is not to small. Taking the bible to church depends on your church lighting condition. Reading aloud depends on the user.

My Old Scofield Study Bible.
It was a great investment. I had one back in the seventies I gave it to someone who needed a Bible. It was my first Study Bible.

The Old Scofield Study Bible. The Best of the Best!!!
Written review of:The Old Scofield Study Bible (Classic Edition) 1917 notes Written review of:The Old Scofield Study Bible (Classic Edition) 1917 notesBy: Charles J. Asbury I own just about every KJV Study Bible available. I also study my Bible at least 3-5 hours everyday easy. Besides the King James Study Bible by Thomas Nelson, and the KJV Thompson Chain Bible, the Old Scofield Study Bible will always be the no-nonsense Study Bible with real meat and potatoes. So so so many others have tidbits of info that I could care a less about. Publishers fill up a big book full of boring stuff, that has very little spiritual information. That is also how you can tell the difference between the editor, and consulting editors that are lost, and the ones that aren't. Between true born again believers doing the editing, vs. a company just trying to make a product that will sell in the stores, and is attractive to prospective customers. Most times, stuff Bibles are for the people that love stuff, but don't know the deference between spiritual things, and just stuff. The buyers that do buy the OSSB, are usually serious studiers of God's Word.Personally, I take Psalms 1:1 very serious. Why on earth would I want to read some lost editor from Harvard explain, or define an important doctrine such as Salvation, when he might not even know the Lord Jesus Himself. With C.I. Scofield you can't go wrong. You know what you're getting. Hands down! It's the good stuff. Scofield was a Born Again Believer. If D.L. Moody hired him back in day, thats good enough for me. Plus his other books, like, "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth", has helped millions of people around the globe. On the other hand, you could have 21 contributing editors, and all of them have more Ph'D's than Dr. Phil. Hey, how would you like to have a Study Bible with Dr. Phil as one of the contributing authors? Mix a little psychology, and power of positive thinking(New Age) with the Word. Create some apostate religion beside what God says is good enough. See where I'm going with this? A Dr. Phil Study Bible? The way this world is going, it could happen one day in the near future. Check out II Tim 4:3,4. And then look at some of the so called big shots on T.V. and you'll find plenty of cotton candy preaching, no scracth that, not preaching at all. Teaching of positive thinking, etc., and then maybe II Tim 4:3,4 will make more since to you. We need the kind of preaching like grand ma, and grand pa used to have! Something that we can build a solid foundation on, that will last, and last. Most of the people that buy big bibles with a bunch of stuff in it that you'll never use, also have closets in their house, or even attics, and garages filled with junk. Stuff they will never use again, but for some reason they can't throw it away. Just Stuff! Sometimes stuff that has no value. Just Stuff! So do you want the meat and potatoes, or just stuff? Some people think that because their Bible has more cool stuff, like the best maps, measuring charts, a special section on Greek and Hebrew, 5000 word concordance and on and on, until you need to put wheels on the bottom of your Bible just to pull it into the Church. And most of the info is regular, basic stuff including other trivial snacks, and stuff, stuff, and more stuff. Lots of stuff geeks like.By the way, the definition of stuff is: writing, talk, or ideas of very little or transitory worth. I got that definition from a Study Bible that I no longer use, other than the Old , not New, Scofield Study Bible. Oh, and if you really want a good side kick with extra solid Biblical information, then purchase Nelson's KJV Bible Commentary. You can order it online for around $20. It's a goldmine for that price.Enjoy studing the Word and God Bless. - CA - II Tim 2:15 -

This editiion has all of the really important aspects I seek in a Bible covered. Beautifully bound.
Everything about this Bible is top shelf. The leather is supple, the pages are not as thin as some and are silky smooth and nice to the touch. The cross-reference guides are thorough. The study notes are amazing and they even added indicator notes as the words move from one topic to the next. Each book has introductory notes that are very navigational concerning writer, era, theme and events. The subject index, and maps are very helpful and has the most comprehensive concordance I’ve seen in a Bible. I especially like that the notes are from 1917, and have not been “improved upon by an over zealous generation”! It’s a bit hefty, but lays across your hand as it were softened by the warmth of the sun. You’ll love it.
