great book, price is jacked though, so all the books here by him are kind of a rip off......
that said, I felt like splurging on one of them, so this one made the most sense. I am not a gospel player or anything, but these sophisticated chord changes are heard by the likes of many greats, like steely dan and the beach boys, to name two that come to mind. I got this then like a week or two later I looked up apps on google store, found the app for this series, titled PIANO HARMONY MIDI STUDIO, that was free, but you pay for the chords, extra ones that are like the ones in this book. I got the jazz one and the herbie hancock slash chords and now that is my main go to. it is GREAT! you can hear the chords, arrange them on the screen, and jump around to different chords till you're happy. I like to do that then go to my keyboard and learn the progression I have created. the possibilities of this are pretty much limited by your imagination. the extra pay apps were only 5.99 for the big file, then like 3.99 for the herbie hancock one. these 2 together has given me access to the chords that you see on the youtube videos for this series. I went to the website and almost bought one of the bigger courses. but the price was so cheap and they had no contact info (email on site was sent back to me as failed), I was afraid it was a scam. that brought me here to buy one book. the price IS TOO HIGH, but they do cover stuff in a way I haven't really seen before, so it's worth it. that said, this would probably be the one to get. having some knowledge about music theory will help you, as it's not for the totally non-musically learned. that said, if you know the roman numeral progression that's really about all you need. this deals in taking chords out of the progression then adding these whacky chords in there place. the program shows doing that with every chord, but that can sound a little strange when you do that with a melody (think a different chord to twinkle twinkle little star, a little too busy), but when you look at this system as a more stretched out way to play these great chords, it makes more sense, and there's always time to go chord crazy. the last thing is on the videos and in print they make is sound like you just sit down and viola! these are some intricate chords, and those do need to be learned, but that said, I worked out a progression I made up pretty easily, so it just takes practice. I also wouldn't say to get into this series if you are just starting, it might not make much sense. if you've been a novice for years, like me, but understand theory pretty well, it is a GREAT jump start to sounding more sophisticated and better than you actually are, lol.

will help you sound like the pros.
I recommend learning how to read sheetmusic & picking a favorite song of yours that you already know how to play. this is a great book just as long as you know what you're doing
