Tales from the Umbrella Academy: You Look Like Death Volume 1

A really fun read
This story is such a wild ride start to finish. If you find Klaus even mildly interesting and love the brand of humor the umbrella aced my offers you won’t regret buying this book. Although be warned, Amazon shipped this to me without any wrapping around the cover, just loose with other items in a box so the cover now has scuff marks. Maybe buy it from somewhere else.

Everything You'd Want from an Umbrella Academy Story
As a fan of the first 3 volumes of Umbrella Academy, I really enjoyed this spinoff story. I thought it was significantly better than the spinoff that focused on Hazel and Cha-Cha in story and art style. It's very clearing not Gabriel Ba's art, (please tell me I'm spelling that correctly,) but it still feels like it's in the same world. Klaus is still his usual self, this world is still weird as hell, and the story was really unique and enjoyable.

Good story but disappointed with the art
I am writing a brief review as I only read the first ten sentences or so of any review myself. The story was fine and I feel any fan of the series would be content with this side story but I was an idiot and took for granted that the magically talented Gabriel Ba would be returning to illustrate all of the story not just the cover. That is something I could have easily avoided by doing some basic homework and it isn’t as if the artist does anything horribly wrong. Really the only issue I have with them is that they just aren’t Gabriel Ba so obviously their artwork is different from his as well. But in hindsight would I have still bought the book if I knew it was a different artist? Most likely yes.And overall I still found the book enjoyable so it still worked out ok.So there.

It’s good!
This is a good story except it’s kinda confusing. The plot is simple enough to understand though and I got hooked on the story and read it within a day. The cover is pretty cool too!

Good story, bad art
It took me months for me to actually finish the book because of how lazy the art style is. It looks so empty and generic that It felt like a chore reading through it. But the story is def compelling and I’m glad I got to see more umbrella academy. If it wasn’t from it, I would’ve gave it a hard pass.

Ripped comic
The front cover of the comic had a chunk ripped off the corner when it arrived

Not the same artist
Good story and glad to add it to my collection. That being said the artist was not the same as the first 3 volumes so it took a minute to get use to the new interpretations of the characters. I prefer the original artist but I still enjoyed it.

Personally this is the best UA comic out
Where the main Umbrella Academy series fails in providing a balance of new and explainable story beats, tales of the umbrella academy delivers and offers a complete story of Claus' personal journey to self reliance. It's not flooded with a stream of unfinished new ideas and instead was crafted, planned and coherent.

Incredible Comic, A umbrella academy must read!!
Loved the comic it’s a great addition to the collection, couldn’t put it down, story had me hooked from the beginning. Who doesn’t love a story about everyone’s favourite drug addict/superhero 🤷♂️Only complaint is there was a little mess around getting the comic delivered to me via Amazon prime but after a couple of days I finally got to read it 🙏
