Worked great to cast some very fine parts and details
I am working on some casting some tiny fighters for a table-top game (Full Thrust). The fighters are 8mm at their widest and have some absolutely tiny details on the wings and cockpits.I was having some trouble with pure resin castings not having the strength I was hoping for. I am not quite ready to attempt liquid metal casting so I thought I would try cold-casting the models and see how it worked. I used a squish mold and the metal dust did not effect any of the details. The models came out just perfect! I did not lose any detail and the models seemed to be a bit more durable with the metal added than without. Finally, I do not have a pressure pot and always struggle with bubbles. When I used the metal dust, the number of bubbles were drastically reduced. I have not seen anything that states that this should be the case, but it has happened in all four castings that I have tried so far.Great product. Will buy again.

This iron powder is wonderful for creating intentional rust.
This is exactly what I needed. I have been using metal effect paint and wondered if I could make my own. The first batch if iron I ordered was the wrong kind, but will be used to make magnetic slime so it won’t go to waste. This iron will rust, which is exactly what I wanted it to do. I am running tests on the right mixture of iron powder to paint to get the best results. As a test, I brushed some of the powder on a tester card and sprayed it with the oxidizer liquid. It worked beautifully. I am really happy to be able to create that rustic vintage crusty/rusty look to things.

Variances in color vs. other brands
I have no issue with this powder. I was using another brand which upon inspection has a brighter copper color compared to this one which comes in a darker brown tone, but in using it in cold casting where you dust with it after making a thick slurry in the resin, it shines up just fine. I've also mixed it with the brass powder sold by this company, to get a nice tan color. Just mix the powders first before adding to resin. The key to any cold casting is to ensure you have a top metal powder layer otherwise it will always turn out dull because of the resin itself. The resin mixture needs to be dense enough to avoid soaking up the dusted powder as it will sink into it if not enough powder was used initially in the pour or coating. For reference I'm using Art 'N Glow epoxy resin, to get my results. Also - regardless of vendor, Brass powder is not yellow. If you want a brass color you have to mix it with the copper powder, otherwise it will turn out green from start to finish.I mainly switched brands because this vendor utilizes free shipping through amazon where alternatively I was paying quite a bit more going with the other company.

It's IRON alright
I utilized a couple of these for parkerizing. It works wonders over "steel wool", and just as good as "atomized steel". Its a great deal. I do believe this to be atomized as it has not oxidized to rust. The iron is in its original form.

DIY Magnetic chalkboard wall
Mixed this powder with chalkboard paint for a chalkboard wall in the kitchen. Painted 6-8 coats and it works great, depending on the strength of the magnets. We purchased some pawn-style magnets that hold up to 5 sheets of paper to the wall with no problem - even have a calendar on it with a magnetic hook!

Good quality, fine powder.
I really like this powder. Or use it for castings in resin and it makes us very well because it is a very fine powder.
