American Birding Association Field Guide to Birds of Minnesota (American Birding Association State Field)

great tool for your bird-watching kit
Lots of ephemeral, and rare species included here, as well as the usual ones. I like her commentary, because it is not just the straight-up identifying information, but she offers differences among species. Also she lets you know when an unusual bird might be lurking in a flock of common birds, such as Mallards. Makes me look more carefully at groupings of birds in ponds. That's how I saw the Green-winged teal for the first time, with a bunch of Mallards. This should not be considered your go-to bird book for Minnesota or anywhere, but an added reference for those of us who are at the intermediate level or higher. If this is you then I recommend this book as a supplement to Sibley, Stokes and others. Thanks for reading my review and good birdwatching!

Best regional bird book, just buy it!
This guide is a must have for all who appreciate and enjoy the beauty and diversity of our regional birds. My third birding book that has become my go to guide since received. The narratives are spot on and easily understood, the photography is remarkable with no equal that I have found. Being very fortunate to live in a State Forest of hardwoods and conifers, with natural state bogs and ponds within view, my confirmed observations have increased from 160 to over 200 in a short time. Sending my thanks to Laura and Brian for sharing their knowledge and skills for others to share. Also thankful for Laura's radio show. "For The Birds". Very interesting, sweet and relaxing.

Beautiful pictures
I sat down when I received this, and read the entire book! I have lived in Minnesota all my life, and have been a bird watcher for most of it, and always enjoy learning more about all of the beautiful birds in our state. This was full of good information and facts, and where the birds can be seen.

Mom loves it!
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my mom so she can look at the birds in her back yard and identify them. She loves it! She's finding all kinds of birds she didn't know how to identify and even found some she'd been misidentifying. It's a nice compact size and easy to use. I highly recommend it.

Very nice color pictures of the birds of Minnesota
Very nice color pictures of the birds of Minnesota. We use it all the time. We keep it near the kitchen table so when we see a bird we can't identify it is handy. Very good resource for anyone in Minnesota who wants to know more about the birds.

Lovely pictures, nice explanations
Love the ease of use and wonderful color pictures. The beginning section is great for beginner birders (like myself) to identify different patterns and shapes of feathers etc.
