Can you keep a secret? I grew up sick. Let me clarify. I grew up believing that real love stories include a martyr or demand great sacrifice to be worthy. Because of that, I believed it, because I made myself believe it, and I bred the most masochistic of romantic hearts, which resulted in my illness. When I lived this story, my own twisted fairy tale, it was unbeknownst to me at the time because I was young and naïve. I gave into temptation and fed the beating beast, which grew thirstier with every slash, every strike, every blow. Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets. Secrets that cost us everything to keep. That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to. Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence due to my illness. And all were punished. Review: Ruined - Words cannot adequately express the emotional journey I embarked upon when I delved into Ravenhood. It is a literary masterpiece that fearlessly pushes the boundaries of human emotions, leaving an indelible mark on the reader's soul. To say that I will never recover from the impact it had on me would be an understatement. This series has become my absolute favorite, forever etching its place in my heart and mind. From the very first page, I was spellbound by the author's ability to weave an intricate tapestry of raw emotions, taking me on a rollercoaster ride of joy, sorrow, love, and despair. It is a testament to the author's profound understanding of human psychology and their exceptional skill in translating these complex emotions into words that resonate deeply within. The characters in this series are not mere figments of imagination; they are living, breathing entities that become your confidants, friends, and even adversaries. Their struggles and triumphs become your own, and you find yourself emotionally invested in their every move. The author's masterful character development allows you to witness their growth, often pushing them to the very limits of their emotional capacities. One of the most remarkable aspects of this series is its ability to challenge societal norms and delve into controversial themes without flinching. It fearlessly confronts issues that are often brushed under the rug, forcing readers to reevaluate their own perspectives and beliefs. It is a testament to the power of literature to ignite introspection and foster empathy. The author's ability to paint vivid imagery with words transports you to the heart of every scene, making you feel as though you are an active participant rather than a mere observer. The writing style is both poignant and evocative, ensuring that the impact of each sentence lingers long after you turn the final page. The plot is intricately constructed, filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a testament to the author's storytelling prowess that they are able to maintain a perfect balance between heart-wrenching moments and breathtaking revelations. Every narrative thread is meticulously woven together, resulting in a satisfying and emotionally charged conclusion. This series is a tour de force that pushes the boundaries of human emotions, leaving an indelible mark on the reader's soul. Its exploration of complex themes and fearless confrontation of societal norms make it a true work of art. I am forever grateful to have embarked on this emotional journey and consider it my favorite series so far. If you are prepared to have your emotional boundaries pushed to their limits, then this series is an absolute must-read. Just be warned, you may never fully recover from its profound impact. Review: Twist and Turns - I actually read this book a long time ago and just got some time to type up the review. I absolutely devoured this book. I loved the characters in this book that I had to actually read the next book in the series so I could stay with the characters longer. This book had so many twist and turns through out the book. You were caught in the love triangle through the book. The author wrote it to confuse the reader on who the main FMC was going to end up with. I thought all three main characters in this book had so much depth and history that was shown little by little through the book. Though you find out more in the following book. The author had no trouble with the three main characters and kept them straight through the book. The plot in this book is perfectly written. It has lots of spice and smut that will keep you up at night. Like what goes where and that goes there. I highly recommend checking out this book. Just know it's a FMC with two MMC.

This is now my Roman Empire
I pride myself on being a reflective and objective reviewer of books. This review will not be that. This will be the equivalent of me waving a huge flag over my head and running through town screaming at the top of my lungs how much I love this book. I just want to crawl into this story and ignore absolutely all responsibility until I have devoured every word. The fact that I have to do anything other than listen to the these word and absorb all of the feelings raging through me feels like a true injustice. But I will take a moment to record my thoughts before I dive into the second book in the series. It is literally all I can spare. I’m not going to give a story summery simply because I went in almost totally blind and I wish that for everyone. I will say that Kate Stewart remembers what it was like to be on that cusp of adulthood, trying to figure out not only who you are but who you hope to be and the sort of people you want to spent your time and your life with. Whether Cecilia feels like the 19 year old you once were or maybe the person you wished you could be at one point doesn’t matter. She is brave and determined and learning so many hard truths in such a short time. These men that come into her life are the perfect sort of mental and physical aphrodisiac. Handsome, charming, secretive, philosophical and sometimes cruel. Doling out affection and information in the smallest of does, like a drug that they string her along with. And it is intoxicating to witness. The twists and turns of this story are just the beginning and of course, we are left on the sort of cliffhanger that insists you put down Flock with one hand and pick up Exodus with the other. Unless, of course, you have made the better choice and have allowed Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden tell you this story. Then you just readjust your headphones and press play in the next book because you are now addicted to them telling you this tale with such skill and passion. I have heard them both before, Joe almost more times that I can count, but together their chemistry is unmatched. It all sounds and feels so real coming from their mouths. Okay. That’s all you get. Exodus is calling. Just do yourself a favor and when you finish whatever book you are currently reading - read this one next! But be prepared to cancel some plans, because you won’t want to do anything else.

I’m equal parts intrigued and frustrated
The first installment of The Ravenhood series is a great leap. It feels like high school drama but rock n roller adults… I honestly like Cecelia better than these grown men who keep throwing her feelings for a whirl and treating her like a child for having emotions. It’s maddening, because she is actually the teenager and I still feel like she’s a lot more mature than they give her credit for. The whole breakup for protection trope reads false to me but maybe I’m just angry on her behalf… it’s a mess—I love the writing, the heat… and the characters so far —especially Tyler bc I’m big mad at Dom and Sean… I hate cliffhanger endings. It’s just a thing that bothers me. The audio by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell is really well done. I read this entire book in 4 hours so it obviously dragged me in… can’t wait to see where it goes.

Enjoyed, but…
Overall, this was a surprisingly engrossing story. I wanted to continue to find out what happened next, and part of me wants to continue with the story, but I’m not sure I will. For one, CeCelia’s immaturity seems to be only growing. After reading the excerpt from the next book and comments on the next book, I find myself frustrated. She spent the entire book having warring emotions over Sean and Dom, but within one chapter, she’s going to be swayed by yet another powerful man. It makes me doubt her character and sincerity, which makes me not want to read the next books. I am not a fan of immature and superficial characters, so the thought of reading another novel of the same character makes me cringe a bit. Next, I really enjoyed Sean and Dom. So much of this book was spent on them and seeing their emotions develop. It makes me sad that they just sort of fade away (in one way or another.) It makes this story feel like a lie if they don’t really pursue one another. I feel cheated somehow. As stated, I did enjoy the book overall. There was mystery and excitement and passion. I’m just let down that this story doesn’t continue how I’d like to see it (and I realize this is my personal opinion and does not have to match with others’).

good story 4 stars (but with reservations)
First of all I'd like to state that the writer is excellent and the first book in particular had some beautiful passages that resonate with the reader, perfectly conveying the tone and emotions of the characters. The characterizations are very good and one can easily see the motives of all the MCs as she made them all come alive in their wounded, tragic stories. I won't rehash the plot or characters because other reviewers have done so but I do want to make a rather important observation on something in each book and which affected my reading. Before I go further, I would probably read another book by the author, and may have given 5 stars except for a rather glaring problem that never got better in all three books... As a fluent French speaker living in a Francophone country, I am very well-acquainted with all sorts of dialects and particularly those in Paris. And here's the problem: "The Frenchman" characterizes himself as a violent person raised except for a short period of time in the US mostly in France. It is his education, his intelligence and his outward appearance that makes him rise from his origins. But he readily admits that he is, for lack of a better word, a thug with (it seems) North African / Sephardic origins. The dialect for someone like this would be like the "Beurs" of Paris , particularly Saint Denis or Barbès which would fit his personality and his origins perfectly. But the French that is used in all three books is often stilted and sounds like something from Google Translate, or something a non-native speaker would use. Definitely not the way the main characters would have spoken! I initially found it slightly jarring but by the last book I was flipping through just to avoid reading it. Yes, I know, most people reading this don't speak French but for those of us who do, the rather stilted French was annoying. One example is in the overuse of the F word that was like a cop out instead of using variants -- if you're going to use the word you need to use the French expressions which have a lot of variety. Believe me, the French know how to curse rather colourfully! The thing is, with a bit of research on the entire culture of the culture of "The Frenchman" especially in the last book, the story would have been far richer and more accurate. There was nothing polite and cultured about him except what he'd learned and adapted to, and whether he was from the French countryside or Marseilles before he came to land in Paris, he would have been a victim and a product of his background. The "Beur" culture in Paris in particular is very rich and combines both the Arab/Jewish culture of North Africa as well as the French culture. Its uniqueness and contribution to the French culture is very important. Anyone interested in what "The Frenchman's" French should have sounded like, listen to this song which was featured in Ocean's Twelve for the laser dance of the French actor Vincent Cassel. The intonation and accent are the first thing I thought of when reading about him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akFZtK0GVU4 "The Frenchman" is a product of his background and he is not ashamed of it, in fact he admits it and revels in it because he has come so very far from his early days. Despite being a wounded wolf, he is the protector of so very many and proud of it. A gentle good guy might have wanted to accomplish what he did, but it would have been impossible. "The Frenchman" did what he did because of who he was and still is. My advice for anyone writing a book and using a second language to add variety, please please please do research to give the characters the correct phrases. I don't mean swearing, I mean slang if the MC is a product of that background. If not, then just preface a paragraph by saying, "He turned to his brother and spoke in their native language." Then put their conversation in italics. It works and would have made the books more accurate.

Trust me, this book is HOT!!
"OMFG, this book owned me as well as consumed me, swallowed me whole and spit me out. Yes, I am obsessed. **This is worth every bit of 5 stars in story and performance! If I could give it more stars I definitely would!** Flock was so much more than I thought it would be and I thought I was ready for this journey, but I clearly was not. I have not been pulled this deep into a book in a long time. Kate Stewart created such a fresh, original, unconventional, sexy, intriguing, captivating, sinful erotic and mysterious love story and I am just in awe. It is a delicious slow burn that intoxicates you as each page, each chapter is pulling you deeper into the story as it is filled with sexual tension, anticipation, angst, and intrigue. I loved the slower pacing of the story telling. Kate's writing is incredible and gives this story so much description that I felt like I was right there. Kate Stewart you are brilliant! The story is about Cecile, who moves in with her estranged father to work for his company for a year to secure her inheritance and support her mom. Things get interesting when she meets laid-back Sean with his sexy smirk and paralysing good looks followed by dark, broody, rude, silent but intense Dominic, Sean's best friend. These guys are surrounded by secrecy which mainly sets the mood for this book but even though she feels they are trouble she is drawn to them and slowly lets them lead her into their world." The Duet style narration preformed by Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden was perfection and SO HOT! **Both Joe and Maxine are my “don’t think twice” one click narrators.** They both did such a wonderful job of keeping me on my toes, edge of my seat, and in need of a few tissues. The story is told through the woman’s POV, so Maxine was leading narration. WOW, she just pulled you into Cecilias world so easily and took you on her journey of self discovery, love, heartbreak, and every emotion in between. There is one chapter in particular where she absolutely wrecked me, her emotions coming through so clearly I felt like I was a voyeur while it was happening. That has stayed with me even after days of completing the book. This was a different Joe Arden than I’m used to, and I am ALL here for it!! He created this very unique character voice for Sean, voicing his personality perfectly. His extreme laid back, slow paced, cocky voice that was completely laced with a smirk you could visualize. But... the whispers he delivers... the angry whispers/sexy whispers, that got me good! His voice for Dominic was completely the opposite. Dom’s voice commanded your attention . It was deep, domineering, intense, and had hot anticipation. I was hanging on to Dom’s every word. This is book 1, and it ends in a massive cliffhanger. I cannot wait to find out where book 2 (Exodus), will take my beloved characters. I will definitely listen to this one again and again! A must listen for sure!

OMG! My heart!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kate Stewart’s Flock is an emotional rollercoaster that left me utterly captivated from start to finish. This small-town romance, drenched in secrets and spicy tension, has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. Set against the backdrop of a close-knit community, the novel weaves a tale of first love and forbidden attraction, with a secret society that adds a thrilling edge to the narrative. Stewart masterfully crafts a world where the good girl falls for the bad boys, and the chemistry between the characters is palpable. The “mortally grey” atmosphere of the story, tinged with dark romance vibes, pulls you in and doesn’t let go. The characters are so vividly drawn that I felt as if I was right there alongside them, living through their joys and heartaches. The complex dynamics and the allure of the secret brotherhood add layers of intrigue and intensity that keep the pages turning. Stewart’s writing is both evocative and immersive, making every twist and turn in the plot feel intensely personal. And then there’s the ending—oh, the ending. Prepare yourself for a heart-wrenching conclusion that had me weeping for hours. It’s a beautiful, painful cluster of emotions that left my heart in pieces, and I found myself mourning alongside the characters. Stewart doesn’t shy away from delivering an ending that is as impactful as it is devastating. In Flock, Kate Stewart delivers a story brimming with passion, secrecy, and raw emotion. If you’re a fan of dark, spicy romances with complex characters and an ending that will leave you sobbing, this book is an absolute must-read. It’s a powerful, unforgettable experience that will linger with you long after you turn the final page.

When I first read The Ravenhood duet (soon-to-be trilogy) a few weeks short of its release, I hadn’t yet started writing reviews on each book I read, and since I haven't gone a day without thinking about the world and characters I was introduced to in this book, I felt it was not only a shame but a sin to not have written one for Flock and Exodus. So here's my humble review of Kate's newest release of 2020. . . This is the story of Cecelia, a natural hopeless romantic who goes to live with her negligent, absent father for a year in a small town called Triple Falls to be able to earn independence and help out her problematic mother as a part of the deal. Slowly, she realizes that her trip to this mysterious town ends up becoming much, much more than what was expected and, as it turns out, It will drastically change her fate for good. "𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘢 𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘯, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘦." "𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘐 𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦. 𝘐 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘦. Expect to be confused, expect to not know what is going on but to stay awake until late in the morning from the eager need to finally get to the bottom of things. Expqect to fall in love with each character, with the setting and the complexity of the world. Expect to expect, because very soon in the book you are sucked into the story and find yourself getting your hopes as high as can get from Kate’s exceptional writing alone. DO NOT, however, expect a regular cutesy romance with a few twists and turns and a predictable fairytale HEA, 'cause this is anything but. . . "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘬, 𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥, 𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘧. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘫𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴." 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ★★★★★+
