20 out of 10, would buy again
***Update on November 11, 2022***I am still absolutely in love with this scratcher! I now have two to accommodate both my long cat and short cat. The hooks are still the original hooks from 4 years ago.I will note that my paint is matte and shiny/glossy paint might not have as good of adhesion. I got this same scratcher for a friend of mine who put it on glossy paint and her adolescent cats ended up tearing the scratcher off the wall with the hooks still mounted in the scratcher. I also advise to clean the wall with the highest percentage of rubbing alcohol as you can find. I have a 99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol for chemical de-greasing and it works AMAZING to prepare the surface for sticky stuff (including Command Hooks). Just be sure to let it dry and make sure to use a cotton that doesn't leave flakes.***Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2019***I love that they included 4 sticky hooks to hook this thing on the wall! It is extra long so my big cats can get a full stretch. They absolutely love it. I had it mounted in the usual "J" position til they destroyed it near the top. Then I mounted it upside down so it was the shape of a candy cane hanging on the wall. That let them get the top part they like to scratch so much, which used to be the bottom, and extended the wear. THEN I waited til that whole side was scratched and cut the J curve off with a hacksaw and then mounted it backwards. With all the scratched up part resting on the wall. Now it has a whole other fresh side that I can do the top/bottom reversal thing again with. Making this product by far the best value for the money!!! This company is ingenious in including the hooks. I haven't had to remount them yet and I've had this thing for like a year now. Also, the length of this is better than anywhere else I could find. Well done. Will be buying again and again!Update from many months later:Yep I still love these. My cats do too. I love how long they are, for my long cat. I only wish they were maybe 6 inches longer. Still love them though.Another update: Its been officially years and the 4 hooks that came with the 1st cardboard scratcher are still there, never fall off. I use the hooks that come with the new ones for other things around the house. They will peel paint off if you try to remove them. I still stand by the fact that these are the longest wall mounted cardboard scratchers on the market. My 15 lb long cat loves these scratchers. I now have a total of 4 around the house.I'd love to see these 5" wide, mega long scratchers also be available without the hooked part at the end. I cut the hooked part off after awhile to use the other side. But it's perfect when one cat is long and the other is average.

First Scratching Post my Wall-Scratching Cat Has Ever Used
So I have the most wonderful furry little friend. He's an angel, he's adorable and fuzzy and he's a little wall scratching demon cat.I've tried spraying the walls with repellent, I've tried covering them in tin foil (he scratched right through the foil). I've tried spraying him with water (he likes water. He plays in his water bowl!)... Everything I tried was a major failure. I put all kinds of scratching posts right next to were he normally scratches and he doesn't like them. He doesn't like the hanging ones, the rope ones or the posts. He ignores all of them...Then it occurred to me that besides the texture of the wall, he might actually prefer the solidity of it. Most of the scratching posts I've tried have a wiggle or wobble to them because they are just attached to a pedestal or hung from a nail.I was really excited when I found this vertical one that attaches to the wall, and with a few careful measures to make this a pleasurable experience, I'm proud to say he's actually using this scratching post! This is the first and only scratching post he has ever used.If you are wondering why I didn't give this 5 stars, it has only to do with the hooks they send for attaching it to the wall. I would suggest you discard these hooks and don't use them. They're flimsy and when I tested it out, it was fairly easy to pull the post right off of them. Instead of using the hooks, I used 4 extra long decking screws and just screwed right through the post in the top and bottom corners. I sunk the screws deeply enough that his claws won't likely hit them while he's scratching. The thing is solidly attached to my wall in the place where he previously chose to scratch.I was really carefully to introduce it to him in a fun way, which I think was helpful too... After making sure it was secure so he wouldn't have a bad experience with it falling on him, I took a bit of catnip and put it on the top edge and the bottom curved part. This got him really interested in it and he was rubbing all over it (so he was putting his scent on it, which they claim is part of the whole scratching experience).Initially, he actually fell asleep using the bottom of the post as a pillow. I thought this was a good start, so I walked away and let him enjoy it. When he got up later, I walked over to the post, and reached my hand down and started scratching it myself. This got him to stand up and put his paws on the the post because he was trying to get me to pet him and in order to rub my hand he had to stand up on the post.He immediately realized he could sink his claws into it, and started scratching right there (breakthrough!!!). So I gave him lots of love and encouragement as a reward. He proceeded to use it several more times last night, and each time I made sure to recognize his efforts when he was done.I won't pretend this is the full solution in itself because it isn't. I still have to address the other spots on the walls that he likes to scratch. I believe it will take a combination of replacing those with these awesome posts that he likes to use, and covering those areas for now so that they aren't enjoyable to scratch....Since he prefers scratching at the corners of the walls, I'm starting with some of those clear plastic corner protectors. If I have to, I'll even consider attaching clear plexiglas over the areas that he repeatedly goes for. I think a hard plastic will definitely deter him from scratching in these areas, and now that he has a post that he likes, I hope it will be an easy switch!

Good for Cat, Bad for Wallet
My cat looooves cardboard scratchers, and a while ago i bought her the Petfusion Jumbo Cat Lounge and noticed that while she loves lounging on it, she spent most of the time scratching the vertical sides of the lounge. So, I looked into buying a vertical cardboard scratcherThis was easy to set up and the moment I got her to sink her claws into it, she became addicted. She tore through the top half of it in just a week! That's when I realized that this.. REALLY isn't worth the price. The cardboard itself isn't a great quality and can be shredded through easily. Of course, I just flipped it vertically once the top half was worn through, but then what was the point of the curved end? And not only that, the curved end makes the back of it completely unusable unless you have a saw that can just cut it through. I don't doubt that this was on purpose, so that you'd have to buy a replacement instead of making use of both sides of the scratcher. All that for $30? And not only that, she for some reason isn't enjoying the vertically flipped scratcher as much as it was in its original position. Maybe it's just cat stuff, but I also think it has to do with the quality of the cardboard as it curves.I'd buy this again if it were $20 or less, but at the current price it's just not worth a re-purchase, even if my cat loves it to shreds (literally). Either fix the design so that it's not curved or lower the price.
