A forgotten 90's Trip-Hop classic
For anyone reminiscent of mid 90's Trip-Hop, Electronica, Alternative music, this first album by Belgian electronic band Hooverphonic borrows heavily from contemporary groups like Massive Attack. Many of the tracks are dreamy sounding with deep bass accompanied by the angelic voice of Liesje Sadonius, her only album with the band.

Review of used cd condition
Very fine used cd from newtownvideos shipped from Amazon. Jewel case has cracks and chips, but sleeve is perfect and so is cd. I rebought it after losing my first copy about three years ago.Music-wise, well, it's a must have if you are a Hooverphonic fan. If I am not mistaken, this was the first wave of the band, with Liesje Sadonius on vocals, before Geike. Big bass, triphoppy. More in tune with Blue Wonder Power Milk than Magnificent Tree. My favorite song is Plus Profond. Just really good stuff.

HOOVERPHONIC actually knows a little something about music.
This CD is my favorite that I have bought lately. It is arranged very well. The musicians have a good understanding of sound. There is a subtle dream like quality to a very good electronic sound and beat that is not repetitious and overwhelming. The vocals are very good and there are nuances of very good old school such as on the song Wicky which reminds me of some Funkadelic riffs though most of the music is a very cool grove

2wicky put me off this album
Its amazing when you like a genre and there is an artist who everyone says fits it and the commercial release is just sheer rubbish. Thats what I found with Hooverphonic. There track 2wicky is as boring as anything I have ever heard. However giving the album a chance, this has as many mind altering beats, basslines and sounds as any trip-hop album Ive heard in the past. Inhaler, wardrobe, barabas, cinderella and saranji are all trip-hop classics. Barabas could have benefited by more vocal and bass interpolitions like what occurs when the bass kicks in. That track is spoiled by excluding that harmonic rythum created in that small piece of the song. But there is an all impressive mood involved in all the above mentioned tracks and it is well worth the effort for any trip-hop head.

Relax, Breathe, Chill & Listen
This is the most relaxing album I have ever listened to. A glass of wine and turn the lights down. This is a peacefully chill album. Another wonderful album that is even better on vinyl.

Great for waking from a dream confused
I had Lies as my wake up music for a long time. Problem is I just wanted to let it play while drifting in and out of dreamworld. Now it's only for weekend wakeup.Beautiful music. I have it vinyl so choosing an appropriate turntable is next on the agenda
