I have a lot of cats, and lemme tell you, there is nothing more exciting than watching 10+ fluffy little heads bobbing in unison as this vibrantly colorful, jingling toy soars and bounces above and all around them.The rod and feathered lures are easily put together. The two lengths of the rod screw into place in a middle bit, and there's a simple but very secure little clasp for the feathery, belled head. All of the connections hold up well, and the rod and line are strong enough to stand up to 10+ vicious, energetic, muscular cats. I have been teasing my colony of cuddly critters almost nonstop since this item arrived, and all of the feathers in the first lure I chose are still in place! These are animals that will happily rip my house shoes apart if I leave them out. This is a great toy! It's sturdy, bouncy, colorful, and truly an excellent product--both the feathers and the jingly little bell have a nice high quality feel and sound to them, better than anything I've had before. I've been experimenting with different cat "wand" toys, and this one has a floaty effect when you wave it around which definitely seems to intrigue my cats. However, I have a wand of a different brand that has easier clasps for the feathers onto the string, and I also noticed that the string is glued (or something like that) to the wand, whereas another one I have uses a metal loop at the end allowing different types of toys to be attached to the end, whether a string with feather toys, or a "snake." This wand seems potentially more fragile and less sturdy. Time will tell if it holds up under routine play.

I bought a toy similar to this at target and was shocked with how much my cats loved playing with this bird-like prey. I have 3 cats and until recently 2 feather teasers of the sort you can purchase in your average pet store, namely a solid rod about 19 inches long with a cord of equal length with feathers and a bell at the end. One of my cats is a toy Bogart and I decided I needed three toys so when a tired kitty decides to sit on their respective toy I can use another to amuse the next cat, recall I have three cats. This toy arrives some assembly required, but not too hard (a pair of needle nose pliers makes the clip for the toy to attach easier to open and close). It is thinner so more flexible, is longer with a longer cord (about 34 inches). This toy immediately became the toy of choice across all three cats... hotly contested, so much so they ignored the older 19-inch toys, it flies higher and wider, and just has more kitty loving action. So now I have purchased 2 more of these for my cats. It does come with extra feathered ends, which I have not used any of yet.

As soon as I started to assemble this toy, my cat, Matcha, was meowing and pawing as she was so excited to get to the jingling bundle of feathers. For the first week, this feather toy has been lightweight, yet sturdy, and great at whipping and flouncing around the air and engaging my 1 year old cat. However, I soon started to notice that some of the thin, longer feathers were rather brittle, and in all her energy Matcha has been gradually breaking down the feather bundle. This is to be expected, which is why I'm glad this package comes with five options of feather bundles, but since Matcha has a history of eating bits of non-edible things and throwing them up, I was concerned about her breaking off the smaller, sharper feather chunks and eating them. Additionally, I will be removing the bells from the replacement bundles because she broke off the current one within a few days, and I am again worried about her swallowing and eating them.

This is a great product! Our cats LOVE it. The wand is two pieces that screw together, which is sturdy, but to keep it from breaking all one needs to do is use a little common sense. If the cat gets a good hold on the feathers, don't hold the wand like you've just caught a huge fish and you're struggling to reel it in. Hold the wand out straight inline with the string and grab the string with your hand and pull it gently until you wrestle it away from the kitty. Any wand, no matter how strong or flexible, will break if it's bent badly enough.As for the quality of the ends themselves, they're awesome! Jingle bells and feathers make our kitties go crazy! Best stick toy I've ever owned!***Update*** I just ordered another one after the last one broke in the middle. The new one came yesterday and it's already broke. The cats loved it much more so than any of their other toys but this is just too flimsy. I'm so disappointed.
