Over my lifetime I've owned a lot of flashlights, and I can say that MagLite is still the king. This one fits right in the sweet spot for me in size, weight and amount of light it puts out. You can buy flashlights with insane output, they work well, they'll get hot and that's just want it is. People who are snobby about this know what I mean, but if you just want something that is durable, not too heavy and puts out more than enough light (which is entirely up to you), this is the light for you. The only change I made was to purchase a glass lens to replace the plastic one fitted to the light originally. It's a lot more clear and scratch-resistant. Amazon sells a selection of these from regular vendors. As to this grip, I've owned MagLite flashlights with the original grip style and this new one, and I like this a lot, but don't prefer one over the other. It's strictly personal taste. I would say that you can definitely buy this with the confidence that with basic care, you'll have it forever.

great light!!! good looking and comfortable to hold and activate due to it's texture. very good light, easy to handle the intensity (3 grades) . it's a pity that it took 1 month to get it.

Solid built LED flashlight, reasonably bright for a 10 year old model. Not as bright as current LED models at this price point, but it's use of D cells is a nice option over rechargeables. The focus/zoom is very limited, unlike most flashlights lights nowadays.

Maglite is compact and light. Nice construction. Its a little bit pricey for a small maglite. Would like to have as well 3 D maglite in this model. Prefer the traditional turn on button on the front rather on the bottom of the flashlight especially for bigger size. Like the feel of the switch to turn on lights. It seems to be soft. Delivery was at appropriate time. Arrived just in time for use in travel. Would be nice if Nite Ize still makes the grip N clip as this would be hard to hold on during winter time due to metal construction. Overall satisfied with the purchase.

Great flashlight for home or car. Long battery life, sturdy design, great illumination. Doesn’t look like a cop baton, which is crucial for my aesthetic.

I love the new design and have been a long time user and maglight enthusiast. The new adonized colours look great. I went with green and love the new grip pattern. The new button is crisp and precise and makes orientation of the various modes easy. I went for tactical mode, purely for the reason that I like the temporary on feature which means it only stays on for as long as you hold the button down- no annoying half pressing or anything else is needed to do this, and for it to be on properly just a quick double tap. I think with all the various settings this will have something for everyone. I had expected a little more brightness. If I'm honest, it's brighter that my previous 3 cell led but it's not a massive difference. However the new user interface, the new design make this a winner for me. Feels a bit lighter than the previous 2 cell version. My only criticism of the design is this - the previous maglights were quite a bit cheaper than these so I could forgive the cheap plastic lenses. These are now quite expensive and although I do think they still represent pretty good value for money I would have liked to see a more robust lense , it feels plasticy and flimsy. The previous models were great in their simplicity and mine have all taken a battering and stayed 100 percent functional where many other so called hard use tactical flashlights had flickered , caned batteries and been generally unreliable - I just hope that the led , switch and the electrics hold up in this new model as well as the previous models because if it holds onto its former robustness this will be a real winner
