Does a great job of keeping a man’s or a woman’s hair dry in a Texas thunderstorm. The visor is particularly good.

Edit: I have used it in the rain & it works well. The only criticism is that the strings dontvtie tighly enough to stay tied in the wind. ORIGINAL: I haven't tried it out in the rain, yet. But, I think this will really help when I need to walk out to my car after work in the rain. It will keep my glasses dry which is really great because ball caps aren't foldable & the bill isn't very big on them either. And, my umbrella held so much water last time that it drenched my car when I lifted it inside. The only problem that I can see about this is that the rain will pour straight down my back if I tie it too tight. I live in Texas & we have down pours at times.

You can fold and put into pocket or purse.

Highly recommend I'm old school as long as my hair is protected in the rain my entire outfit can get wet Amazon is the only place that sells these good quality not cheap nor flimsy

This should be a decent rain hat for a medium to small head. Unfortunately, on a large head (like mine), the front visor barely reaches to my hairline. I had hoped the visor would provide some protection for my face and particularly my eye glasses, but the hat is just not big enough for that. It does cover my hair and top and back of my head okay, and the ties let it snug down tight around the neck and under the chin. I haven't tried it in actual rain yet, but it looks like it should be waterproof, and it is fairly warm. If handled carefully it should last a while. It folds into pocket size so is easy to carry, and I can see it being useful when caught in high winds or unexpected downpours. I would give it another star if if were only designed to fit bigger heads.

Bought it for a relative who was interested in a rain bonnet that had the netting on the inside - it's harder to find than you think! She's delighted! That's all I need to hear. She did say the little ties that go under the chin are stiff - but I think that will improve over time. She likes this style best - so if she's happy I'm happy!
