The included winch remote also meets the tough IP67 standard, which ensures water, mud, snow, and dust is kept out. Be ready for the elements with the Talon Series The sealed 5.2 HP motors deliver a quick but safe 62 FPM line speed at a low 75 amp draw. Heat sink-styled motor cap maintains low temperatures under the heaviest loads. The solenoid will keep out water, mud, snow, and dust and has a patented venting feature that allows the contacts to resist water and release contact-damaging internal condensation. The VS4 Solenoid (Vented, Submersible, and Stabilized with Sealed Socket) is simply the best winch solenoid in the world, and it's located inside this modern-styled rugged enclosure.Dual Stop Brake DesignThe innovative "Dual Stop" 100% load-holding brake design provides zero drag on cable in and is located inside the gearbox away from the drum to eliminate heat transfer to the synthetic rope. Included remote is weather-resistant with a built-in LED flashlight Durable Construction for Safer PullsThe laser-etched aerodynamically shaped extruded aluminum tie bars reduce weight, and the three tie-bar construction adds strength and structural rigidity between drum supports. The tie-bar bracket includes steel-lined rubber insulated mounts to stabilize the solenoid and reduce vibration and fatigue.A special steel drum is constructed with high tensile strength material to resist the unique loading characteristic of the optional synthetic 3/8" x 80' rope rated at 17,600 lbs ensures a safe pull. There's an ergonomically shaped hand-held sealed remote with brilliant LED light for assisting in night-time winching. The chrome plated aluminum ergo-free spool knob lifts and turns effortlessly, easily rotating in 45° increments for custom and "in bumper" applications.Lifetime WarrantyThe Superwinch Talon Series is covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty, which includes an industry-first 3-year warranty on all electrical components.Technical SpecificationsRated Line Pull: 9,500 lbs (4,309 kgs)Motor: Sealed 5.2 hp (3.8 kw) Series WoundGearing: 2-Stage Planetary and 2-Stage SpurGear Ratio: 148:1Solenoid: Vented, Sealed Submersible Solenoid with 3-Year WarrantyClutch: Free-spooling Clutch/Pull and TurnBrake: Automatic/100% Load Holding (outside of drum)Rope: Synthetic Rope 3/8” x 80’ (9.5mm x 24.4m)Hook: Heavy Duty/Clevis Pinned/LatchedFairlead: Anodized Blue Aluminum HawseRemote: 15' Sealed Ergonomic Hand-held with Coiled CordDrum Diameter: 2.5” (63.5mm)Drum Length: 8.75” (222.2mm)Mounting Bolt Pattern: 10” x 4.5” (254mm x 114.3mm)Line Pull: 0 lbs: 75 Amps Motor Draw/62 FPM (18.9 MPM) Line SpeedLine Pull: 9,500 lbs: 430 Amps Motor Draw/5.0 FPM (1.5 MPM) Line SpeedDimensions: 24.22” L x 6.20” D x 10.95 " H (615.20mm L x 157.50mm D x 278.15mm H)Weight: 65 lbs (30 kgs)

Excellent product backed by an excellent company.
Superwinch makes a great product. Seriously. I've had this winch for 4 years now and its been on two vehicles during that time. Its been used countless times and has not failed me. Obviously how you treat this winch will have some effect on how this winch performs; the way it is mounted in my truck means it is not exposed to the elements.I've only ever had one issue with this winch; About 3 months ago the solenoid failed (again after 4 years of use) and I was able to easily replace it with parts offered by Superwinch. Superwinch obviously stands behind their product and their customer support is second to none. When I ran into some issues with compatibility (the parts have minor changes over the life of the winch) they sent out the piece to fix this free of charge.Bottom line is if you are looking for a top tier winch backed by a company that truly believes in their product, I highly recommend this winch.

Top tier winch and fast as hell.
So, I've only used it a couple of times, but everything about this winch is top notch. This particular version has the non-integrated solenoid, which I needed as I have a bumper that "hides" the winch body itself. The body looks really high quality. The paint is really durable, and doesn't scratch easily. The bars connecting the left and right halves to the drum are brushed steel it appears, and have no play in them. Not going to lie... this thing is heavy even without rope. It's my first winch, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it's pretty easily 60lbs.The clutch knob is polished aluminum (?) and cams into place. Pulling the knob up isn't difficult, and it rotates smoothly. On the same subject, the winch free-spools easily.First off, if you're remote mounting the solenoid, you'll 100% need 2-3' of 2 gauge wire, along with 2 gauge lugs (the "ends"). The solenoid shell has 4 small holes in the bottom, which you feed bolts through. I grabbed a piece of flat, plastic plate/trim from the hardware store, and mounted my solenoid to that, which I secured to the front bumper. The controller I haven't quite figured out... So, I can get the winch to behave normally with the bottom 2 buttons (with the spool in/out diagrams on them), however, there's 2 buttons above the lower buttons, which have no labels or diagrams to them. I still don't know what they do. :/ There's also a button on the index finger/trigger position. I didn't use it, but I THINK it's for an LED. A rubber cover comes with the controller to protect the controller from mud and whatnot. The controller cable itself is coiled. Some people like that, as it does a good job of keeping tension on it and off the ground, however, if you're not careful, those things can turn into a tangled mess. Anyway, the cable itself appears to be super high quality and is really thick. While I did get the synthetic rope (SR) version of this winch, truth be told, I got it as a display model which didn't come with a rope, but it did come with the hawse fairlead, and hook, which both appear to be of good quality. The hook is a standard made in china hook. Nothing special, but it looks pretty heavy duty. I, personally, use a thimble, so I can't attest to the hook's durability. The hawse fairlead I'm using on another vehicle (also with a superwinch), and it's holding up great. The reason I didn't use it with the winch it came with is because it's blue, and I wanted a black one to match the bumper. It's standard width (10" hole to hole I think?), and made of aluminum. That being said, if you use the fairlead with another winch, it's ONLY compatible with synthetic rope. Using it on a winch that has a steel cable will likely f*** it up in pretty short order I assume.Performance: It's fast as hell for a single motor winch with planetary gears. 62ft/min, which is fast enough for me to use additional caution. Speed comes with a bit of a price, as it's also loud. Again, it's my first winch, so I've only got one other to compare it to, and when you use it, you KNOW it's being used. The last piece I'll mention is that it's made in China. A lot of people will cringe at that thought, however, if you do your research, you'll find that they've been around a really long time, and when people search the forums for an alternative to Warn, Superwinch routinely comes up. In that same breath, I'll ALSO mention that the Superwinch brand was sold recently to Westin, which has appeared to have picked up like 90% of the Superwinch models, with exception of the EXP series. So, there shouldn't be much worry about part availability. This winch is expensive, but it's also a top tier winch. You're creeping into Zeon territory, but also keep in mind that the line speed of the Talon is almost double that of the Z-10S. You're getting a lot of bang for buck in this winch, and so far I've had no disappointments.

Nice looking. Very fast line in speed
Box winch came in was toast. Looked like it fell from 10ft drop. But nothing broken and everything accounted for. Instructions adaquateGreat build quality. Heavy gauge wire that was probably 6ft. Just made to stock battery location on my jeep TJ.Great price and FREE shipping. Couldn't pass up.Have not used enough for operating quality review
