Did not get a new book - overall good instruction, online audio can't be downloaded
I ordered a new book directly from Amazon, not another dealer, and got a book someone else had already taken notes in, so that was disappointing. I decided not to return it as shipping to my location is not fast, but I wish I had not paid the "new" price. The book's instructions are clear and well organized. The website where you can play the audio is easy to use when you have an internet connection, but there is no option to download so you can't take it with you and play back whenever you want. That said, it still seems like a good intro book to the language.

Love this book! I’ve been a student of Turkish for 3 years now and it’s perfect to review material. The material is presented better than it was in some of my college courses!

Typos & Mistakes: Orthography, pronunciation & translation
Orthography, pronunciation, and translation can't be trusted. For example, on pXXIV, it says that "İi" is pronounced "uh" as in butter. And, "İı" is pronounced "ee" as in "it". But it rather should say, "Iı" is pronounced "uh" as in butter. And, "İi" ıs pronounced "ee" as in "seems" (the i in it, and the ee in seems are different sounds to English speakers). So they have jumbled and conflated the spelling and pronunciation in İi and the Iı. On page 336, It shows, "Kitabı kadın okudu", translates to "the woman read the book quickly". But quickly "çabuk" is not in the sentence. It appears 3 examples later. And on. If you are a beginner, this is a terrible way to start. To learn mistakes, that will be painful to unlearn later. The in-book CD has been replaced by an online web page. So, as they are making revisions, why can't they make an "errata & addenda" to point out these egregious mistakes?

Was under the impression that this would come with a CD? Unsure as to how i would go about learning the auditory side and pronunciation etc. Quite disappointing - i assume i will have to purchase the CD separately which is expensive in itself. EDIT: you are able to download the free audio through the TeachYourself website! Other than that, good comprehensive book, the Teach Yourself range has never disappointed, good for beginners and would recommend buying another grammar book or read-along-set to accompany it. I am using the "Elementary Turkish" book by Lewis V. Thomas to help fill in the blanks. Youtube videos are also a helpful source!
