Great Book
This book will answer a lot of your questions about automotive engines particularly, all engines generally. If your just starting out working on engines or thinking about your next engine build, this book should be in the stack because regardless of what you've heard or thought on your own, welcome to the knowledge. Knowledge is Power.

Very informative and engaging
The format of practice problems and examples as well as the in depth explanations for each concept and formula are perfectly done and very easy to follow. It kept my attention frome the first page to the glossary. Many little tips and tricks for each operation as well as general advice and suggestions. I might buy a physical copy at some point.

Engine Math
Exceeded my expectations! I now understand why each component compliments or hinders engine performance. Any one interested in building and engine, this is a must read! When to use single or dual plane intake manifold, vacuum or mechanical secondaries on carb, header diameter and length, long throw high displacement vs short throw higher reving motor, head types and volume with relation to street motor or all out race motor, etc... This book will allow you to select the correct parts before you build an engine. This could save you $thousands of dollars. Engine Math should be a required class for trade schools, high schools and college. The toughest part is now listening to what other guys are building and knowing their mistakes before they get the engine finished. I'm telling all gear heads to get this book! Otherwise, you must enjoy the look of my tail lights as I leave you in the dust!

Winning Through Better Math!
As an engine builder, I have always known the importance of math formulas to help design a race motor.Engine Math has helped me learn formulas I didn't know. It showed how to apply them and what I shouldexpect in the way of results. This book is invaluable to someone like myself. Using some of their theoriesI was able to pinpoint the exact header primary tube diameter needed for my BBC 496 build and port thenew aluminum heads. It also helped me choose the correct carburetor cfm. At 10.1:1 compression thisstock block, normally aspirated motor produced over 700hp.Buy this book.

Excellent in almost every area
I was really impressed with this book. There are formulas that any non-math student can plug into today's calculators or an Excel spread sheet and get the answers! The illustrations are good and easy to understand. The author writes pretty well and doesn't take a lot of the reader's knowledge for granted. This is a big plus in understanding complicated theories like gas wave dynamics. The only bone I have to pick with the book is the part about intake air temperature and it's effect on power. The author uses intake air velocity as it relates to temperature, which is a different animal all together. Had this part of the book been better I would have given it five stars. It's worth the money for all the people interested in really knowing what's going on inside and engine and being able to have the math to figure out what you are looking for. Buy this book, you'll like it.

Great, easy, simple.
For someone wanting to learn more about IC engines in a technical way that the layman can understand, this is a great book. I have a fantasy to build my own engine one day and even if that never happens, after reading this book I have a lot better understanding of how it might be done and more confidence in my ability to do that. I am reading other books on IC engines so I know there is a lot more to building an engine than what is in this book. But this book is definitely an important piece in the puzzle and a great help with understanding the whole picture.

Excellent book
This is a subject that at first seems too boring for the "Hot-Rodder" but take it from me, a self proclaimed ADD speed junkie, I was reading and taking notes like there was a test. There is so much in this book, you get something new every time you pick it up. An absolute must have if you are wanting to go fast and know what the changes you plan to make to your engine will do to the end performance. Even if you are not a "math person" you need this book. It is not as easy read, but neither is going fast!

Good solid engine fundamentals book.
Quickly and easily explains the formulas for calculating many engine functions and dimensions. Not hard to understand at all if you have basic algebra and geometry math skills but if you don't understand those skills, you probably shouldn't be putting an engine together until you learnGood book
