Adventure Medical Kits SOL Fire Lite with Tinder-Quik

The sparker is difficult to hold. At this price point I would rather get a few mini lighters. Just my two cents.

I don't know why anyone would buy any other flint. I hurt my hand recently and know that it is PRICELESS to be able to do things with one hand. This is an AMAZING flint that is as easy as a bic lighter. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. If I could give one tiny bit of advice, it would be nice if there were a hole in the end so I could attach it to my kit, as one fell out and I had to buy a replacement. I'd drill a hole in the plastic, but I don't want to risk messing up the spring mechanism, as this flint is perfect and I'd really hate to mess it up.

I've found these to be the perfect emergency fire starting solution for my small emergency disaster kit. They take up so little space, are very lightweight, and work better than anything else I've tried. I just pull out a pinch of the tinder fibers, fluff them up and they light up like an oversized match stick when I spark them with the flint unit. Unlike the metal sparking rods (which: require a certain skill level and sharp iron) these take up much less space, weigh much less, and can be lit one-handed.

Wanted something for when the Bic decides to just quit on the trail. I lit my canister pocket rocket stove with it after multiple tries. Fingers awfully close to flame when it ignites. Alcohol stove also proved to be even harder to light and again nearly burned fingers. What is needed is the wheel an inch or two back from where the sparks exit and it would be great. Problem is it doesn't throw enough sparks far enough for lighting anything but tinder quik or lint. Probably will end up in the "that looks really neat but doesn't really work well" drawer.

I have a smaller survival kit from SOL brand. when I saw their Origin kit I was tempted to get it too. after reading the details of its content, I realized that I already have most of the stuff the new kit contains. however this Fire Lite is so small and light weight and it can add to the survival kit I currently own. now I really don't need to spend another $20 or more on the new kit.

great lightweight emergency fire starting kit

It's a fire starter. essentially it's a lighter minus the fluid, merely a turn wheel with flint. It strikes every time with a bright, hot, flash of sparks. Great as a primary or back up fire starter. Weighing in at less then an ounce it is perfecct for ultralight packpackers, emergency kits, bug out bags, camping, hiking, or any wilderness activity.

Can't ask for anything lighter, smaller, or more capable. Current USGI survival kit piece (in OD of course). Bought 2, one for each of my wife's & my Bug Out Bags. These won't be our primary firestarters, but go into an emergency kit in a belt pouch to carry on our persons. They work great with Vaseline/cotton ball tinder.
