The actual pen is very nicely machined and feels good in my hand. I like a heavy pen.The light is bright and once used to it, the means of changing the brightness is simple.The actual switch is a little problematic in that I keep my pens in a pouch on my belt and both times I have actually NEEDED the light the battery was flat as I had switched it on without knowing and the battery had gone flat. A device for locking the switch would be a big plus.There are reports on Amazon of dis-satisfaction with the pen refills. I find that the refill it came with writes moderately well if I do not try to scribble fast with it. Move the pen too fast and the ink does not keep up.I found spare refills on Amazon, so that potential worry was eliminated.Is it worth £50? Well a lot of money for a pen but I do like the look and feel of this.ADDITION. The refills it comes with are indeed poor but the Schmidt ones as above are excellent. Expensive at £3 each but write beautifully.

I love the design of the pen and light and I use it everyday at work. Some reviews have commented on the clip being too strong, I find this a good thing as I clip the pen to the outside of my gilet breast pocket which gives me an instant hands free light at the press of a button but also gives me the confidence that I wont lose my pen.I have only rated 4 star because unless you are writing slowly on perfect paper and perfect surface the pen refills are utter rubbish. I have sent for an alternative refill, so fingers crossed.

An upgraded design based on the original Open, the Open 2 combines a neat bolt-action rollerball pen with a handy torch - and you can separate the two, letting you light up your work area while you write.The torch is bright, though runs out of battery quickly at its highest setting. You get longer from moonlight mode, and it's quick to recharge using a USB Type-C port hidden at the bottom and protected by a seal.The pen works well, and while Olight refills don't seem to be available in the UK yet it accepts standard short rollerball refills from other manufacturers. The bolt action is fun to fiddle with, too, and the thick metal body with decorative fluting feels robust.About the only complaint is the pocket clip: it's a little too thick and doesn't flex much, meaning it can be difficult to slide it over thicker fabric.

On /Off button can accidentally be switched on. needs a cover or some type. I use it as part of my camping gear. all else is perfect..

First impression review. I've got many olight torches and all are superb. Saw the pen and needed a reliable, tough one for work. What put me off was the size of the thing, it looked huge, so I bought a space pen, which I found too slim to use with gloves. Decided I'd buy this when it was on deal price again. It's superb. I don't know who's hands they've used in the photos but it's not over large, well within the realms of normal. My hands are definitely not spades. As expected, quality is high, torch excellent and I expect this will be ideal for work. Olight stuff is very good.

Very good and practical pen

I do like a pen, so I bought this. A bit expensive, but once I had it I saw how good the quality is it is understandable and I now use it regularly. I don't normally give 5 star reviews.

I have a few Olight torches and have been happy with the build quality.I wanted an every day carry pen and Amazon had a good discount so took the punt on the Olight, happy with the build quality and the pen ink is fine on mine, the light is actually pretty bright considering it's size, comes with USB charger, would recommend.
