definitely recommend, better than competitor
These lights are great. They look nice, are easy to install, feel like they will last (I don't know how long they will last, but for the price they are well worth it even if you have to change them every few years), give enough light, etc. The sensors pick up motion very well. They come on every time I step into the "detection zone". But do note when you are in the detection zone already (for example, the lights are on and you are sitting there in the zone), the sensors come on when you move to a new position or make a "bigger move", such as take a step or move your whole body, but they don't necessarily come on when you just move an arm. I like this, but some people may not... it's just a matter of personal preference.I had originally bought a competitor brand, TaoTronics, instead of Mr. Beams. I made the mistake of thinking they were the same lights, but there are differences. I ended up keeping Mr. Beams because of these differences:(1) Tao lights have a thinner neck, thus they are a little weaker in supporting the light. These lights have some weight on it when you add the D batteries, so it would be good to have a thicker neck (which Mr. Beams do have) instead of the thin neck that Tao lights have.(2) The screws/hardware that come with Tao lights are thinner than Mr. Beams screws, thus again, support would be weaker on Tao lights and stronger on Mr. Beams.(3) The photocell sensor is more sensitive on Mr. Beams and not at all sensitive on Tao lights. Thus, if you need your motion sensor lights to stay off (that is, NOT turn on) when you have other outdoor lights on, such as outdoor decorative string lights, then I would suggest you purchase Mr. Beams and NOT Tao lights. I tested out the two lights, Tao and Mr. Beams, inside a room. The Tao lights went on no matter what, even if you have an indoor light on (for example, an indoor halogen ceiling light), whereas Mr. Beams lights went on only if it was darker in the room, and did not go on if I had the ceiling halogen light on. This means when I have a BBQ and I have my decorative Edison string lights turned on outside, Mr. Beams motion sensor lights will NOT annoyingly turn on (while Tao lights will do so). Note, I did install Mr. Beam lights near the Edison string lights, so that Mr. Beams lights can detect when the Edison string lights are on.Mr. Beams lights are great, I would highly recommend them especially compared to the competitor.

Very well built and VERY easy to install.
First off, this may sound obvious, but I recommend installing these at dusk or at night. That way you can aim them better. You can "trick" the IR censor in to thinking it is night time around dusk by putting your hand over the sensor and that will make the light turn on. You then can use the light as like a flash light a you install the mounting bracket.I just got these this weekend from Amazon and put them up so my review is based on about a weeks worth of use. I ordered an additional 3 more to add to the 3 I already have. The construction of these seems like very high grade plastic. I am very impressed by how they are built. I ordered them to cover some dark spots around the house for security purposes at night. You have to think of these lights like this, they basically cost around $33 a piece with the batteries and save you from having to either hard wire a motion sensor light your self or paying an electrician to do it. Also by the time you bust out a ladder and mount the 3 screws that come with each light and aim them they take about 10 minutes each to install. So imagine the time saved as opposed to having to hard wire something like this.I found the coverage area of the lights to be very good. They throw about a good 30 feet of light. You cannot adjust the time the light is on, which is 30 seconds. That really doesn't bother me, but that would be one small improvement that could be made. The sensor seems sensitive enough. Not to sensitive but not to weak either. I sat one down on it's side and slowly moved my hand from behind at night and just as my finger tips came across from the back it went on. So that means the sensor really does cover every angle it should in my opinion. My neighbor helped me mount these under the eaves of our house. While we had two people to install these one person could do it easily. I found that the black colored housing under the eaves blends in very well. I have these lights completely covered from the elements but I would suspect they would be fine in rain and sun as they claim they are weatherproof. I just think it will be better on them to be out of the rain and sun in the long run. Very well made product and have am looking forward to installing additional 3 I have ordered. I know it says this in the description, but remember they do take 4 D batteries each so any 12 pack of D batteries form Amazon will work perfectly.

Pretty Cool
These lights are really cool. They are bright, adjustable and illuminate a relatively large area. They turn on as you approach within 5 or 6 meters. Sure saves wiring something up. Time will tell how they stand up to the elements, so far so good. R.A.T.

Very Impressed!!!
These surprised me with how bright they are and that they are pretty good quality too. The sensors don't pick up motion until it's fairly dark so the batteries will hopefully last a good long time. I did what another reviewer suggested and ran a bead of Vaseline around the seal to make it watertight as I live on Vancouver Island and we get insane amounts of rain. Very quick to install and position and cover a large enough area too. So happy I purchased these and may even get another set!

Just ok
For the reviews I've read they seem overrated. It's ok but for a small area. The wind triggers them to go on & off at night so the batteries will not last long. Easy to install - thats why they got 3 stars. I'll have to adjust my review once winter is over, see how they work while it snows.
