I have a horrible time trying to get dough thin, or rather I used to! This is absolutely perfect for me, as I like making my own crackers which requires 1/16" thin dough. Now, I can use the blue rings on the ends of the rolling pin and get the perfect thickness without issue. Crackers that I made in the past would never roll perfectly with my old wood rolling pin for some reason. I would get uneven thicknesses and that made for problems baking properly. I can roll out the dough efficiently and get the perfect thickness by the pressure placed in the center of the pin or the edges. Crisp, gorgeous Crackers every time. I can roll out thin cookie dough, biscuits and pie crust with ease. There has been no problems with the dough sticking to the stainless steel, as there is with the wooden rolling pin which required the added flour to the dough causing think tough Crackers especially. With the silicone pastry pad, I can measure pie crust to the perfect size quickly without adding flour too! This makes for a lighter and flakier crust. As I am short and my counters high, I always had trouble getting the needed pressure to get the dough right. Now, because the pin is heavier than the wooden one, I don't have the problem of trying to press the pin to the right pressure. The silicone pastry sheet is easy to clean and doesn't move a bit.I highly recommend this product as it is easy to use and clean. Seems very well made and easy to use. Makes getting thickness for crust, cookies or biscuits even. Didn't think I would use the silicone mat but it is very nice and doesn't slide around. A very nice set all around.

It moves smoothly across the dough, and paired with the silicone baking mat, it proves most useful. However, its length, being but 12 inches, may be found wanting by those in need of broader sweep in their baking endeavors. Yet, for the common task at hand, it performs with admirable grace and precision. In all, a worthy companion for any who seek to bake with both ease and efficiency, though its size may leave some desiring more.

This worked great...I wanted thin cookies and it allowed me to measure dough after rolling out! I also liked the mat with lines where to roll.

I'm used to the old time wooden rolling pin. When we moved ours was packed poorly and it broke so I went searching. After reading countless reviews I decided to gamble on this. Boy am I glad I did. This truly only needs a light dusting of flour for the stickiest of doughs. I found the thickness guides to be easy to use and of good quality. I know some people complained about how you adjusted it but I found it to be easy on and off. Not to mention easy storage! They also have mm on one side and inches on the other. The rolling pin is lightweight but performs like a heavy duty pin. I love the silicone mat that comes with it. The mat does not slide around on the table or counter like so many other mats I've tried. The diagram and measurements are useful too.

I had only used the old-fashioned wooden rolling pin before, and am very glad that I upgraded to this stainless steel rolling pin with the rings at each end. The rings allow you to control the depth of the dough as you're rolling it out so that all of your cookies (or whatever you're rolling out) are the same thickness, and thereby bake evenly. You do have to use a lot of flour on the rolling pin to prevent the dough from sticking to it. The silicone mat is the perfect size and cleans up easily. I would definitely recommend this rolling pin and mat, as it is well-priced and works well.
