An Outstanding and Compact Reference
Anyone in need of an annotated, compact book covering the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence should consider picking up this book. Written by Dr. Richard Beeman, Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania and trustee of the National Constitution Center, this slim book contains the Declarations of Independence, the Constitution, all twenty-seven amendments, selections from The Federalist, and short chapters covering how these documents came to be as well as some discussion on prominent Supreme Court cases. The result is a very effective presentation concerning these documents. Beeman does so in a refreshingly non-partisan way, relying on his professional experience and knowledge in teaching this subject for more than thirty years. The advantages of reading an annotated version of many historical documents are that they are broken into components where each section is commented on. This allows the reader to explore that particular section before advancing to another one and forgetting what they've read to that point. Students will find that this system of reading results in an increased understanding of the content. Those needing quick answers will be able to not only find the exact passage they want, but a quick glance through Beeman's comments will refresh their memory on what they have learned about the passage as well. The books suits both students and teachers well as both can utilize the book easily for quick reference at any point. Beeman also added a section on US history regarding the creation of the documents which about a hundred pages. The advantage of this short brief history is to capture the essentials of the subject and get them onto paper. Students will find this to their advantage as one of America's premier US history's professors highlights these essentials which will allow them to focus on what Beeman sees as the most important elements instead of focusing on secondary points. Beeman also provides references for additional reading which always come in handy for any scholar. It is important to note that Beeman is a trustee of the National Constitution Center. This non-profit organization is also non-partisan and dedicated to illustrating Constitutional ideals and active citizenship through its museum and website which is located on this link: [...] I use the NCC site for my module on this section of US history and have found it to be the best Internet based resource for my students. When used in conjunction with Beeman's Penguin Guide to the United States Constitution the students are given a great learning opportunity which is often lacking in many classrooms. With that in mind, I highly recommend this book for students in high school as well as all levels of higher education as an excellent and compact reference covering these extremely influential documents which have shaped US history since they were first written.

Great little pocket version of the Constitution
This is just what I wanted, for a low price. It is a bound book with clear printing. Nice cover design and printing, and 4 x 6, so small enough to fit in a pocket/small purse. For the price, I think it is great. An improved version would have the margins near the middle a little larger to set the text away from the seam. A much-improved version would be a 4 x 6 booklet that is thicker (more pages) to accommodate large print so older readers could read it without glasses.

Being knowledgeable about facts is important
Love this book! Filled with knowledge about our Forefathers as they constructed the government in a new country. The citizens of our Great country need to Read this book to Fact Check lies, gas lighting & a total corrupt left to realize how we are being manipulated to believe in & vote for a socialistic system that will ruin our country! Our Forefathers would roll over in their graves to see the openness of corrupt government officials who actively cover up their evil lives, no consciences!! Sodom & Gomorrah all over again. Read the book! You'll get a full understanding of the Republic our Forefathers wanted to establish

Founding Documents
This is a very useful collection of the founding documents which includes the: Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and Constitution. Best of all, the e-book version is well hyperlinked from a proper table of contents to: each of the Articles, Sections and the Amendments of the Constitution; there is a single link to the Declaration of Independence and links to each of the articles of the Articles of Confederation. There is an appendix that lists the order of Ratification for the first 13 states and the date of admission to the Union for the following 37. Lookup is especially easy and quick when searching the documents in e-book format (though having three documents in one book can cause a word or phrase search to take you to unintended documents.)A couple of negatives: 1) the publisher uses a very large font for the titles, thereby forcing the kindle to be adjusted for the body text and being overwhelmed by the title, or setting the titles to an appropriate size and squinting at the body text, 2) each section is treated so separately that it gets a page break at its end, thereby stifling the flow of the document. Still - these are small points and relate to presentation, not content. There are free versions for the kindle, but the inclusion of the table of contents and the hyperlinks makes the small price paid a very good value. e-Book publication quality, ★★★★☆

Covers everything you need to know
I watch a lot of CNN and not being American my knowledge of the The Constitution of the United States of America is not great. I only know part of the 1st, 2nd and 5th. Instead of only just getting a quotes from the amendments I can read it all. This is a not a thick book. This books contains only the Constitution etc there is no author or opinions. Easy too read and find the information you need and want. This book can be used by High School students.

Perfect Little Book!
This is a great little reference book to have for anyone wanting to know some information on both the Declaration of Independence & The Constitution of the United States of America. It’s not bulky, small and juts enough details for beginners who want to know more about U.S history & the two most important documents ever written in the free western world. I bought this book to add to my library and so that I can have a quick reference when writing position papers, opinion pieces or articles. Great for writers!
