Very nice hub, no question. 10 months continuous use: No problems!
Seems like just the thing. This is the 10-port hub I've been using now for a few weeks, and have had no issues. I can't comment on transfer rates and so on because my PC is itself so old and ready for replacement--I also use a MacBook Air, but without a hub. However, the hub supports a host of external devices, including two printers and a dedicated scanner. It also permits rapid charging of phones etc. I even use a wired gaming mouse because I prefer its responsiveness (the damned thing was expensive, but worth it), and everything works as desired. Right now the 3.0 feature is meaningless for me, again because of the antique computer, but I bought into that feature for future upgrades. Update: Having no problems at all with this more than a month later. Seems very reliable. Transfer speeds from external HD to external HD are very quick. Very nice not having to "bake cookies" while I wait for 20gb data to transfer. UPDATE #2: 10 months out, continuous daily use with my MacBook Air, and not single problem or hitch. Works flawlessly. Based on my experience, I recommend this hub for any user in this application. UPDATE #3: I have the Amazon Basics 10-port USB hub. This has worked very well for me EXCEPT when I attempted to extend its rather short cable with an Amazon Basics 3.0 6’ USB extension cable. With an external hard drive attached to the hub, populating large photo folders became noticeably slower. Then today the hard drive wasn’t being recognized. I ran several switchout tests, and it does seem that the cable is the issue. The hub still works great if directly connected to my computer (MacBook Pro), but slows down, then fails to recognize external devices.

Picky on USB3 port. Not so on USB2 EDIT: 5 star now [SOLUTION ADDED]
It is acting strange. I like the design and such. This is what I am experiencing so far. I will update my review if/when I figure things out. Connects and installs fine plugged to USB3 port. Problem is some devices work and other don't. A simple 16GB flash drive for instance. The drive works fine when plugged directly into the PCs 2.0 and 3.0 ports. It also works fine when plugged into another 2.0 hub. It will not work with this Amazon hub when the hub is plugged into the USB3 port, but again works fine when the hub is on a 2.0 port. I have several devices exhibiting this behavior (another flash drive, my Corsair mouse, higher end USB condenser mic so far). The hub is on a 2.0 port, everything works fine....3.0 port some devices do not work....all these devices work fine on either port when plugged directly. Yes, I have tried many combinations of ports for everything. Very odd. I will currently just stick to USB2 for now as I do not particularly require the added bandwidth for now but it is frustrating. I will do some more research and update my review if I figure anything out. UPDATE: 6/14/14 I have an Etron EJ168A USB 3.0 on my ASRock Motherboard. I tried updating the USB Host Controller from ASRock website, no change. The Etron website has a newer driver, updated and again no change. Changing (Disabling) USB power settings seems to have fixed my issues. In advanced power settings there is a "USB selective suspend setting". If you are having issues with this HUB on USB3 try disabling that setting. Once I did it immediately recognized the flash drive that was not previously recognized. Getting solid 125MB/sec transfer rate to it as well. I have updated my rating as well.

Something odd going on
Got this for an ASUS UX301 laptop (also purchased from Amazon) since the Green ITC LAVA ECO27QDP LED 27" Matte Screen A-MVA Panel 2560x1440 WQHD (also purchased from Amazon) doesn't have a built-in USB hub. This hub works fine, the monitor works fine (using a DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort cable, also purchased from Amazon), but the monitor won't work when this hub is plugged into the laptop. This problem is perfectly reproducible with this setup. Putting other USB devices in the same port on the laptop doesn't cause this problem. This hub drawing too much power? Laptop USB not up to spec? Solving this would require test equipment I don't have. Update: finally took a dump after limping it along by unpowering it up and down and re-plugging things in again. This thing has been behind a UPS and power surge protection its entire life, as has everything plugged into it.

The first hub failed within a minute of installation; replacement is fine
10-Port USB 3.0: The hub failed within a minute of installation; the two external HDs I had connected both ejected. No damage to anything but itself. Visible smoke from one end, and hot to the touch. It had that fresh "the smoke has escaped" smell. Returned for a replacement - I'll update when the new one gets here. Update: The new one arrived within 24 hours after notifying Amazon that I was returning it. (Thanks!). The new one works fine, no issues after about a month. I have two external drives attached, my trackball, and I charge my iPhone and iPad with it, among other gizmos. I've tried speed tests with a utility I have and speed compares with the USB ports on my desktop machine. So - quality control issues with the manufacturer, which typically improve over time, but this is pretty much a good value for me. Update 4/2/20: Still working fine after 3(?) years. One dead port, my fault for charging something that used too much current.

Very useful for charging my cell phone & USB chargeable batteries. Works with my cordless mouse, as well. No issues with anything I've plugged in, so far, even when I have several items going at once. Definitely worth the cost. EDIT Aug.2018 - After using this for over 3 years, I raised my rating from 4 to 5 stars. This is a great little workhorse that has never once faltered in any way. It takes up very little space on the desk or in the laptop case. Even with all ports in use, including charging a cell phone and a headset, there is absolutely no noticeable slowing of my cheap little laptop's performance. Highly recommended.

After 3 months of use, I'm mostly satisfied with this hub. Pros: 1) Ports on 3 sides. 2) Mostly works flawlessly. Cons: 1) Periodically not recognized after computer wakes from sleep on Windows 10, though this hasn't happened in quite a while - perhaps it's a Windows problem that's been fixed. Could also just be my PC. 2) Power and computer connections on left side, and fast charge ports on front. I think the back side is the natural spot for power and computer connections. Personally, I'd prefer to leave charging cables connected on the side and keep the front ports open for devices I plug in and unplug like thumb drives. 3) The included USB cable for connection to the computer is only 3 feet.

I was concerned about connecting this to my 27" iMac and not having many things not work through it as I have had in other products. This hub worked perfectly as advertised, just follow the instructions on how much you can load into it before it can't keep up. I have an external usb 3.0 drive, a Logitech MX2 mouse, iPhone 7 (or iPad) attached with other items coming and going, it's handled it all very well. Press buy and don't think about it!

The device has started randomly dropping devices requiring to unplug it and replug it.

I chose this hub because it has ports on different sides. Most of them have all the ports in a row, which doesn't work as well for me. I like to have my backup drives plugged in permanently on the rear and leave front ports for things like USB drives. This hub seemed to have plenty of power to run everything, and throughput seemed fine. However, with my MacBook Pro, whenever the computer went to sleep and then was turned on again later, the computer would show that one of my two external drives had been improperly ejected. I tried plugging them into different ports, on the front and back, etc, but it made no difference. The ejected drive would immediately remount, but I worried that having this happen all the time might cause damage to the drive. (In fact, one of my external drives went bad while using this hub, although I can't say for sure that the hub had anything to do with it.) With my previous USB 2.0 hub, this problem never happened, so I returned the Amazon hub. I also found that the USB 3.0 hub interfered a bit with my Logitech USB mouse and keyboard. It was nice having the speed of USB 3.0, but not worth the new problems that it brought.
