Far exceeded my expectations.
This works absolutely phenomenally. Paid for itself the first use. Easy to use. Many different applications. Highly recommend this product.

It works, found my sprinkler valves!.. Update, and more!
I purchased a home 14 yrs ago and have been looking for my sprinkler valves ever since. I was skeptical about making this purchase based on some of the reviews. This tool works! It took some trial and error but once I had a good understanding on how to use it (about 2 hours of fiddling arourd in my yard), it was just a matter of minutes before I located the valves. They were buried in my flower bed about 18 to 20 inches deep under a rose bush..Power went out in several rooms in my home. I determined I had an open neutral. After ruling out a loose connection or a bad outlet/ switch I used the tracer to find a break in a neutral wire behind the wall. Again, it took some time and research but once I had an understanding of how to approach using this tool it pinpointed the broken wire

It worked, at 1/20th the cost of a professional unit
I purchased an "Underground Wire Locator", NF-826, on Amazon. It worked! At 1/20th the price of a professional unit, it was well worth it for home use. It was not as accurate or as easy to use as the $4K system I use at work, but it was accurate enough out to 174 feet from the transmitter. It may work on longer runs, but that's the longest run I had to measure for the initial project. The photos show that the tracer put the ground surface location of a tracer wire buried 24 inches below ground with a plastic gas line to within 4 inches of the actual location. The written instructions were not without some minor translation problems, but they were clear enough that I got it to work. At first it appeared that the unit did not produce a signal, but I only had to press the [||>] button on the transmitter for it to start generating tone. Something that I did not pick up from the instructions. I'm writing a review of the product, since none of the reviews on Amazon gave an actual review of the unit's ability to do what it claimed to do: Locate underground wires. One of my pet peeves about "product reviewers" on line is that they don't produce actual reviews. They say something like: "I just received and unboxed the product today, and I'm real excited to have a new toy. It looks very (interesting / fun / exotic / well-made, etc.), and then they give it 5 stars, and they have not even read the instructions yet, let alone used it for it's purpose. So they skew the ratings without actually having used the product. And then there are the reviewers who give the product a rating of "1" because the product didn't or couldn't do something that the product description CLEARLY stated was not within it's capabilities, or was outside any reasonable persons expectations. For example: "The food processor could not make sand out of gravel".

Good price for device that works well.
Relatively inexpensive, buy does exactly what it says it will. Used this to trace buried telephone wire that carries the copper wire DSL internet----we aren't in a service area for anything else. Did have to open the "telephone company" side of the house box to see which were the powered and grounded wires and attack the leads. Also used it to trace the electric power utility buried lines (120 V) buried to house, barn, and well pump house. Again, some knowledge of what to connect the device lead clips to in the electric panel is required, but very simple and the built in voltage tester make that easy. Signal receiver worked well, even at 100+ yards from the transmitter. Saved me a lot of time and money.

Works well on an open short.
Works pretty good, but won't show a short to ground unless the wire is completely broken. Will not show a short to ground that is tripping a GFI unless the wire is completely burned to open circuit

Magic bullet to find wire breaks!
This tools has definitely paid for itself. I have had 4 random breaks in my lawnmower wire and this found them quickly. My old way to find breaks was to pull on the wire every 20ft and that took forever. I found it does work best if you touch the antenna to the wire. Most of my breaks are at the supplied stakes not the ones I 3d printed. I had one where I think a deer jumped over my fence.

Complete waste of money
Complete waste of money! Would only show a signal when I was within 10 feet of the transmitter and wires were on top of the ground. Once I got approximately 15feet away from the transmitter it would only recognize the wire if I physically touched it with the receiver…

Better than expected!
The media could not be loaded. This detector worked great for me. I had some doubts about this but decided to take a chance. This turned out to be exactly what I needed. I had been trying to find the end of a 2" PVC buried drain pipe (AC condensate drain) in the back yard for several days . I did a lot of useless digging but found nothing but dirt. I bought the detector as a last resort. After playing around with it a bit I connected a two conductor 16 ga wire to the end of a fish tape with the end shorted together and pushed it through the end of the pipe at the AC unit I connected the transmitter unit to the free end a powered it up. I heard the signal blaring immediately and started tracking along the garage floor and then outside in the yard. I attached some pics and a video. This thing saved the day. Wish I had it to start with, I could have saved a lot of sweat.
