Each game has over 50 documents to examine so it could be played with a large number of individuals. If you have more than 6-8 people, you may consider splitting into teams and competing against each other with multiple versions of the case.

Is this something you can only play once? Once you've solved the case the game is done?

Yes. It’s like a murder mystery book or a movie - once you know how it ends you can't really experience it the same. If you take care of the materials in the case and are sure to reassemble them in the same way, you may be able to pass your Unsolved Case File along to another murder mystery fan. :)
