READ THIS - AWFUL PRODUCT
DON’T BUY THIS. I bought one and it broke after 2 weeks. Out of necessity and how fast this particular ignition could get to my house I bought another. This time it lasted only 2 days. So I could only use my boat for 2 out of the 3 days on my trip. Absolute trash product. I don’t understand why do companies/people even waste their time making such a terrible product that obviously doesn’t last. It would be better for people and the environment if companies/people didn’t produce trash straight off the assembly line. The worst part is it’s apparently been to long since I ordered these two and can’t even get my money back. This is the first review I’ve ever given but I felt compelled to. Don’t waste your money like I did.

This switch is junk
I purchased one switch. I plugged it in and my starter started running with no key installed. Double checked the service manual had it wired correctly installed old factory switch every thing worked fine old switch was worn at safety pull chord attached and falls off shutting engine off.So I send this one back and they send me a new one next day and this one the key will not even turn as if it has the wrong key I had to force the key to turn and you could here popping noises inside switch and felt like stuff was grinding .I wanted 4 days and countless times getting up and down not to mention the first faulty switch may have done permanent damage to my starter . Spend the money by the oe switch

Works GREAT! No problems when wired correctly!
This was a great solution to replace my key switch on my side console G3 aluminum bass boat. The lanyard kill switch had failed to shut the 40HP Evinrude motor down. Dismounting and opening the OMC throttle controller gave easy access to the original switch and this is an exact size replacement. There are 6 insulated bullet connectors on the switch wiring, and one just has to be diligent to get them back on correctly for the new switch.First, disconnect the battery, then match the orientation to the old switch and one at a time, remove and reconnect each wire/connector using a needle nose pliers. I also printed the wiring diagram to verify the wire colors. There may be a slight difference in wire stripe color due to manufacturer variance, but mostly the same. After reconnecting the battery and testing, everything works as original, especially that important lanyard kill switch. Just remember to use it!

Substandard Replacement
Switch was installed and continually blew the 10 amp ignition circuit fuse. Not Recommended. An OEM switch was available and the boat works fine now. My $30 lesson in buying OEM, no substitutes going forward. Do not buy this switch.

Do not buy. Fire hazard.
Product was shorted internally and almost caused a fire in my boat console. When I tested with a meter the + and - sides were shorted.

Just Like The One It Replaced
I removed the 21 year old switch from the shift console and moved the wires from it to this new switch one wire at a time. Everything reassembled together nicely and the switch worked exactly as expected. No data on long term reliability, but it looked just like the OEM switch.
