My routine (edited)...
After reading about coffee enemas from leading health pioneers like Max Gerson and Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, I wanted to try this. Positive changes began almost immediately (after I got over the culture shock of actually doing them). Although easier to do than explain, here's each step I do: 1- I buy organic coffee made for enemas from SA Wilson's (1-866-266-4066) which has cafestol, etc., said to stimulate the gall bladder to secrete bile and the liver to dump toxins (the gall bladder may make a little squirt sound when secreting bile, though not always noticeable). I'm caffeine sensitive so I try to do this in the morning. Thinking I'd do a few to 'clean up', it's been nearly two years, now realizing I'm in for the long haul, still geting striking daily results. 2 - Here's what equipment I use now, although both Amazon and Wilson's sell an inexpensive clear bucket that was adequate for many months. http://www.amazon.com/PurEnema-Silicone-Medical-Grade-Seeking-Health/dp/B00EZ5XH2O/ref=sr_1_24?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1406251786&sr=1-24&keywords=enema+bag 3- To insert the tip, any non-petroleum oil will do. 4- I tear paper towels smaller & keep a squirt bottle of water handy (homemade 'wet ones'). To make coffee beforehand: 1- I keep a quart glass jar handy and fill a 4+ qt large non-aluminum pot w/4 qts filtered or spring water. 3- I stir in 3/4 cup ground organic coffee. 4- I boil 5 min, stirring periodically, then simmer 20 min. I keep lid on so it'll boil sooner and won't evaporate. I stay close so it won't boil over. I have potholders ready, just in case (and keep children or pets away since there's hot liquid in full pots). 5- I let it cool, then use 1 scant qt daily, then top off with more filtered or spring water, if needed, to make 1qt, lasting 4 days. Notes: Once cooled, I dip a 2 cup measuring cup into the pot. and pour from it into a fine mesh stainless steel strainer nestled into the jar. When near the bottom of the liquid where the grounds are, I hold the grounds back to drain it, then discard the grounds. I don't use coffee filters because they trap the cafestol, etc. 6- Making the coffee ahead makes doing the enema simpler. To actually do the enema: - I reboil the coffee (stores at room temp) the three following days (first day, it's already warm). In the beginning, I put a few drops on my wrist like testing a baby bottle, aiming for slightly warmer than body temperature. - Before starting, I use the toilet so I'll be as empty as possible. To start, I apply oil to the tip. - I pre-wash the bucket of bag before first time use, then use the S-hook included to hang on a nearby towel rack (shower is too high and will cause it to come out with too much pressure). - I lie in the tub because it's easier (no worrying about how clean the floor is, the tub rinses out easily, etc.) - It gets MUCH easier but there is a learning curve in the beginning. I clamp tube shut, then pour the qt in. - I avoid air bubbles in the tubing to allow liquid to easily flow through, so I unclamp to let liquid run down to the clamp area, then reclamp. - I lie down on my right side and insert tip slowly. By using oil beforehand, this is easy. - I open the clamp one handed with my left hand. As it flows, when I sense fullness, I close the clamp until I adjust to the feeling, taking slow, deep breaths to allow the colon to relax. (In the beginning, if I needed to eliminate, I did, then came back.) Once I adjusted (the learning curve I mentioned), I'm usually able to hold the qt for 15-30 minutes. I've read colon capacity varies from 1-2 gallons so there should be plenty of room in there; it just takes practice to learn to relax. I look forward to my time tucked away from the hustle and bustle, listening to an audio Bible, spending time in the Lord's Presence. - Once I've retained it 15-30 min., I expel it. I don't strain, if possible, to avoid hemmeroids. I wait a few minutes because more will come out. I may stand up thinking I'm through only to realize I need to sit back down or come back shortly. In the beginning I stayed home for an hour after till I saw how this part went. The cautions I'm aware of (there may be others): A - Not letting the liquid get too hot B - Inserting the tip gently to protect rectal lining Note: Although light bleeding from hemmeroids is not in itself alarming, blood in stools can sometimes indicate a more serious underlying condition. C - Introducing any Add-ins (below) gradually in minuscule amounts until individual tolerance is determined. D - Too many enemas within one day may throw off electrolyte balance although Gerson Clinic recommends doing 4-6 enemas throughout the day in even intervals (see the two Gerson books for more details). I do one now but needed to do more than one in the beginning. Clean up: A - I wash the bag with hot soapy water, rinse, then let a little vinegar flow through tubing. B - I keep a large spray bottle (I bought an empty one) filled with white vinegar (kills 99% of germs and is non toxic, unlike bleach) and spray the toilet, handle, tub, sink, faucet, floor. 10. In the beginning, I rested, if needed. Like any habit it becomes just another routine like driving a car or brushing teeth. Notes: As far as I can tell, it's not any more 'addictive' than taking a bath; I do these because I need to. Here are 'Add Ins' I've tried (entirely optional), found by googling 'coffee enema recipes'. - 1 tsp - 1 Tbsp Epsom salt relaxes the colon, making retention easy. (I googled magnesium toxicity, reading it's extremely rare; the body seems to expel any excess by normal BMs getting looser but most of us are magnesium deficient). - 1 tsp baking soda (alkalinizes pH - Dr. Simoncini indicates cancer can't grow in an alkaline environment - see YouTube 'Baking Soda'). - Lugols 2% iodine (read The Iodine Solution, by Farrow, also on Amazon). I read most are iodine deficient which is linked to cancer (I buy this by the liter here on Amazon). This got me started. I ask the Lord to lead and guide me because only He knows what is right for each of us. I also asked someone knowledgable how long I would need to do enemas and was told (I do 1/day but did 4/day for the 1st 15 mos.) to get the majority of toxins (and parasites) moving out but possibly 1-2 years, if needed, then taper back to a maintenance schedule. This is a work in progress. Results so far: Other than toxins leaving (primary goal) and parasites exiting (unintended but desperately needed secondary goal), my face looked noticeably younger within weeks (softer, more elastic, pinker, diminished under eye rings, white of eyes whiter, 'floaters' gone, etc.). I felt so much better - cleaner, lighter, etc. I no longer want sweets (if craving sugar, that's the parasites wanting dinner). In the first three months alone, 30 pounds (20 more in the following year) of impacted fecal matter and parasites exited with no change in diet or exercise - yuk, but thank goodness! Ab bloating gone, brain fog gone, joy back. Although not targeted, toxic emotions left during enemas (I sometimes unexpectedly cried as stored grief was released). I'm also calmer and more centered. This info is readily available to anyone from Amazon product reviews, YouTube and Google. I am simply writing what was helpful to me.

Great Enema Bucket at a Great Price
I needed an enema bucket to do coffee enemas based on the Gerson Therapy so I bought one of these. At a little over $5 for the bucket, tubing, and shipping you can't beat the price. I have had this bucket for over 2 months now and have had done at least 50 enemas with it and have had no problems. I think I can easily use this for at least a year doing 2 + coffee enemas a day. The handle works perfectly as I hang it on a door knob in the bathroom which provides the right height when doing an enema. It's easy to clean too. It's nice that it's transparent so one can see how much of the enema liquid has been released and how much is left. With a stainless steel version, you wouldn't be able to see that. The enema bag that comes with it is pretty worthless, but for $5 who cares. The bucket and tube was all I wanted. It also shipped pretty fast. I think I got this within 3 to 4 days from ordering.

Best Enema contraption yet
I've been using this enema bucket for the past five years or so. Just recently I left the country and left my bucket behind... two months later I was missing my bucket like a long lost confident. I was feeling heavy and sluggish and just out of sorts. So I finally stopped somewhere long enough to get another one. These buckets are great. They're easy to use. They are clean and they're reusable. Always use luke warm filtered water. I go through phases as to the concoction I use in them. Currently I'm enjoying the hassle free ease of just adding apple cider vinegar. But sometimes I just use lemon or salt. Other times coffee or some kind of oil. And for a while I went through a phase of using keffir, cinnamon, cardamon, ginger as well as some sesame or olive oil. The bucket gets harder to clean with Oil though... so I'm really enjoying the apple cider vinegar approach for now. Doing an enema on a two weekly or once monthly basis though helps to keep my system feeling light. It clears my head and keeps my digestive system flowing. Always make sure you take probiotics after doing these. You can also put a capsule into the enema too... but I think orally is more effective. This bucket though rocks. I love it way more than any other enema option I've come across - especially the hot water bottle idea - that just seems wrong to me (regarding the rubber etc). This is a proper clean out. Next stop is the colonics bar!

Good Value
This product consists of a small plastic bucket which holds 1500ml of fluid with a plastic tube attachment at the bottom side. You get two 5ft sections of tubing with flow stoppers. You also get a small enema bag but it is not easy to fill due to a very narrow opening at top so I've all but discarded it. You can hang the small bucket on a hook by one of the two plastic straps permanently attached to the top sides of the bucket to the desired height to get a decent gravity flow rate. This product also shipped with a small sample of mild potassium soaps which I did not use as I was not sure of the purpose of it. Warm water alone serves the intended purpose which is to get the bowels moving if required. The official definition of constipation is 3 times per week or less but we use this once every 48 hours if my wife hasn't moved enough material in the interum. My wife usually requires approximately 800 ml additional to what this bucket holds so I just add a little as it goes down. Getting the temperature right helps and that is warm but not too hot (80-90 degrees F). If in doubt err on the side of too cold. Crohn's disease can cause many weird things to occur in regard to bowel movements but the universal truth is if the bowels do not move especially when you have colitis you're gonna get very sick. There is not a simple one size fits all constipation frequency philosophy. Some people can go 10-12 days without a bowel movement(assuming they're not sick). The only advantage to enemas is quick, safe release ..we've never had a bleeder(gushing colon ulcer potentially fatal) attributable to enemas. The bad of enemas is you can become enema dependent, scald your lower colon if not careful, damage your rectum if not careful, and upset the bacterial balance in your colon as well as your blood sodium levels over time. My wife survived 4 months on enemas, 4 months off, 4 months on and now she's using Miralax and Metamucil. This is what her GI Doc strongly prefers. We think the safest option when she's flaring is the low residue diet coupled with the enema although Miralax is perfectly safe as well. Metamucil we're not so sure and wouldn't risk it unless she was in clear strong remission. For the price I paid(about 9 bucks) I would recommend this product but those plastic straps you hang the bucket with will break eventually and the tubing can only be pinched so many times before a break will occur. Therefore a backup unit would be good to have on hand.

bucket design different than previously purchased
I purchased these buckets previously and was pleased to find that they had both the bag for travel purposes & the bucket. The bag had a slider clamp but the bucket had a true positive close clamp which I found much more user friendly, especially for 1 handed use. This last order I was disappointed to find that the bucket also only had the slider clamp. Also the bucket seems to have a different hole where the hose attaches & doesn't empty completely & can collect debris. Knowing that these are designed for mostly single use, I had still been able to clean the buckets a few times with hydrogen peroxide & the Castile soap until the tubes are no longer clean enough to reuse then I would replace the unit, but this new bucket will not clean as easily & won't last as long. The bags are much more difficult to reuse as cleaning is quite difficult & usually requires a funnel to fill. Too many "pockets"in the bag that are not reachable to flush clean. Also, I usually need to bring some type of hanger to hang the bag from since it has a small hole that won't fit over much of anything readily available in an unfamiliar bathroom when traveling, I use a shower curtain hook or a clothes hanger. For those interested in learning more about coffee enemas check out "Healing the Gerson Way" by Charlotte Gerson and Beata Bishop [...]. Anyone serious about any kind of detox needs to know about coffee enemas to help deal with healing reactions or "herxheimers reactions". NOTE of CAUTION: If you have had chemo please consult with a knowledgeable source such as the Gerson Clinic before proceeding as detoxing too quickly can stress an already compromised system & could cause catastrophic organ failure or chemo overdose.

Easy to use, lifelong enema fear cured
I have always had a deep fear of enemas. I never actually thought I'd do one but then I started an intensive gut healing program that requires both coffee enemas and probiotic by enema implementation. I haven't gotten to the step of doing the latter yet but I'm happy to report that the coffee enema went so amazingly well, I was able to repeate it and will more often. And no more fear of enemas. It was so simple to set up and to perform, I am amazed. And hugely relieved! While I can't say I'm sold on enemas just yet, this enema bucket made the job a cinch and for that, I'm grateful beyond measure. I hooked mine on a hanger on the towel rack to drop it down so the cable/cord thingy would reach. A bit of oil and I was in business. It only took a minute or two to empty the bucket. I didn't want to wait on the bathroom floor so I went to my bed. But I did need a towel because I haven't figured out how to stop the flow quickly at the end and coffee is a tad messy. I never knew what mess people were referring to but it's just whatever was a in the bucket. I don't get any kind of insane urgency to race to the toilet instantly or anything like that. Cleanup is very simple. I pop the tube in boiling water to be safe and use soapy water on the other parts.

Better not to use this lowest quality item
I don't think this is good for the price. It cause mess/spilling and discomfort due to bad tubing/stop valve. I have switched to one of the best one, PurEnema Silicone Enema Kit with Medical-Grade Silicone Tubing & Silicone Enema Tips | 1.8 Quart | Medical-Grade Silicone Enema Bag, Reusable Silicone Enema Bag | BPA-Free | Seeking Health . You will understand that how important to use soft materials for controlling water flows.

works just fine...
...but then again, its an enema bucket. How hard could it be to make one right? Actually it is one of the better ones. the bucket is shaped so as to have it sitting perfectly flat with the drain sitting in a little 'arch'. This allows one to put it to the edge of a counter and not be pinching the line. there is also a built in divit to hold the tube top in place after filling and prming makes it even better. The markings are clear and accurate for filling as well. The only complaint, not really worth any bad points is the handle. So flimsy mine broke lifting it EMPTY lol. I cut them off, don't need them, the function of the bucket is perfect. Recommended for anyone wanting to cleanse the liver.
