The mattress itself is quite comfortable. Definitely beats my original spring mattress. But you should expect to feel the bar that holds up the sofa bed under your back. Granted, you probably won't feel the bar quite as much as I do, as the underlying support wires are warped downward. That's causing the middle section of the mattress to dip down a bit, causing the bar toward the top section of the mattress to be felt even more. To get around this issue, I purchased 2 sleep pads that are 72"L x 24" W x 0.75" thick. They now lie under the mattress. The mattress puts enough weight on them so that they don't need to be adjusted or taped together. Although they're only 48" wide combined, that's enough area of the bed to not be a problem. I feel the bar much less now. The sleep pads do push up a bit on the sofa cushions when the sofa bed is tucked away. So, if you want to try sleep pads to act as a buffer against the bar, I suggest trying 0.5" thick. I think with time, the sleep pads will compress a bit, so the sofa cushions won't be pushed up at all. But 0.5" thickness should be enough, especially if your sofa bed isn't warped and forcing your back down on the bar.

I read through a lot of the reviews before purchasing this mattress because while I think it’s a cheap price for what you get, it is still expensive so I wanted to make sure I would be happy with it. There were negative reviews that I would say are either false or the buyer got a faulty product because this mattress is amazing! We bought a sofa sleeper brand new and for some stupid reason the only option was the old fashioned style stupid uncomfortable spring mattress, and knowing there were options out there for a better mattress we bought the sofa anyways. We had guests use the original one a couple times and they didn’t sleep that great. We have friends with the same sofa sleeper that we sleep on a couple times a month and in order to make it comfortable we add on a thick foam pad and mattress topper pad and yet we can still feel the springs. The annoying part of that is after a fun night of adult beverages you have to basically build the bed before using it which is quite annoying. Who wants to build a bed while Drunk? Well let me tell you this mattress eliminates the need for that! We bought it, Amazon Prime had it here in one day, and our guest said that night they slept better than in their own bed at home. It didn’t take long to rise to exactly 4.5 inches thick, had zero smell as some of the reviews said, and fits easily folded up for storage in the couch. Later we added a pillow top topper and sheets on it and it still fit into the couch no problem! Now we can easily have the bed set and ready to go, put away for a fun night of intoxication and bad decisions and in a snap the bed can be pulled out so whoever needs to crash and not drive they can do so without having to figure out how on earth to make a bed in that state of mind. I highly recommend this mattress to anyone looking for a better solution to the crappy old style sleeper sofa. Don’t bother reading all the rest of the reviews and wasting your time. Just buy it. You won’t regret it.

I inherited a nice leather couch that had a terrible 6" sofa bed mattress inside. It had janky springs sticking into my back all over and I could feel the bars. I looked online to see if I could replace it and found this mattress, which was priced very reasonably. It came quickly, and was very compactly packaged, with all the air sucked out of it. Once it is unwrapped it slowly expands to be about 5" thick. It comes inside a nice (microfiber?) mattress protector bag that seems quite durable. There was a minor chemical smell for a few hours after opening, but leaving the sofa open in a ventilated room overnight and washing the mattress protector fixed that easily. I am amazed at how comfortable such a thin mattress can be. It doesn't get hot, though I've never had problems with that on other memory foam products either. There are no springs to jab me in the kidney, and I can't feel the metal bars of the sofa at all. It folds up perfectly and unfolds without leaving any creases in the mattress. Because it is so thin, I have been using full size sheets instead of queen size sheets. Now I have a guest bed that is just as comfortable as my real bed, if not better.

The spring mattress my sofa bed came with was not supportive in any way. You could feel the springs and you can feel the bars underneath. Very very uncomfortable. So I replaced this with new mattress and OMG what a difference. The queen size I got fit perfectly and folded up nicely back into my couch. I can barley feel the underside of the base and it’s super comfortable. Make sure you get the right size for your couch as well as letting the mattress puff up for at least a day before using it.

This product was originally shipped wrapped in plastic, no box. I returned it, and requested one in a box. When I received the replacement, it was obvious that the first one was a returned it. That shouldn't be, its a mattress and should not be re-sold. The mattress was vacuum packed, and I left it out, unrolled for a few hours, for it to puff up. It fit perfectly on my sofa bed, but I would have like some way to secure it to the frame; the old mattress had tie downs. I tried it out for a few minutes and barely felt the bar. I do have a fold-up board that I can put between the mattress and the bar, I think should help with the comfort. It is much more comfortable than the spring mattress I replaced. I have guest coming two weekends in a row, after I get their reviews, I will update, good or bad.
