IceCap Pod Habitat
T**N
Takes a while for the inhabitants to move in.
Works as designed. I located it at the bottom of my refugium.

Floats when removed from tank
This was more buoyant than I expected based on the youtube videos of this product. Eventually, it did sink. The pods do seem to hang out in it.

1 piece that is constructed to stay together
Definite 5 star review. Good design and construction. Recommend. This is my third pod habitat / pod hotel of this type. This latest purchase, I am using it in my sump first chamber where overflow lines come down from main mixed reef display aquarium corners into sump. There is a LOT of turbulence causing air bubbles as i'm not using filter socks at the moment. Even with a bit of air collection which is inevitable given where I want this positioned, it remains settled on bottom. I like this design that is constructed to stay together much more than the modular pod habitat/hotel that comes apart (and floats, different parts here and there). This 1 piece pod habitat is to replace my modular previous pod habitat. I'm not sure if my copepods make use of this, as they are so small I just can't see them to confirm. It is logical that if they aren't in porous rock, that then copepods have pod habitat for safety. Amphipods reproduce a lot slower than copepods, so having a safer place for amphipods to reproduce is smart. Pod size is good for amphipods, but I also have these 1 piece pod habitat / pod hotels in each of my two berghia nudibranch breeding tanks. Berghia's get so small when hiding, I'll swear they aren't inside, and then as room lights go down in the evening, berghia will crawl out like magic (berghia are masters of hiding lol and they like being in their habitat more than PVC which is exponentially larger openings pipe vs pod habitat/pod hotel). I'll likely get 1 more of these 1 piece pod habitats for my newest FOWLR tank before I reintroduce more amphipods to give that tank's tiny critters more of a fighting chance.
