I ordered the cue if the month that came with the butt and shaft for the price if just the shaft. Mcdermott builds a quality product.The shaft is quiet yet stiff. I'm not sure about the Navigator soft tip though. I'll give it a bit of time. Most carbon shafts are very similar to each other when deflection is compared. I would honestly compare them on price, since no shaft makes you a better player.The Mcdermott uses a polymer inside to dampen the vibration and a coating to further dampen it. It works very well. If your looking for your first carbon shaft and expense is a concern I would look at the Flowers cues to start.

Shaft is as described but be certain before you purchase. Mainehomerecreationdotcom wanted $70-$80 for a restocking fee the minute you put chalk on the tip.

Not the product for me. Didn't care for the texturized wrap. The taper was too fat for my liking too, although I believe that can be adjusted. I'll stick with wood.

I really liked it in the beginning, then after twenty games. Something came loose inside the shaft, thankfully McDermmott stands behind their products. They had me mail it to them and fixed it. I believe McDermott stands behind their products.

I ordered the Defy shaft for my McDermott cue that has an I-2 shaft with a Kamui Clear Soft tip. This shaft is definitely lower deflection, and the action on the cue is effortless. I have played against other players with other brands of carbon fiber shafts that sounded “tinny”. The Defy shaft sounds just like a wood shaft. Very happy customer. My wife loves her new Defy shaft too.
