Exceptional quality can.
I had sets of race cans(jugs) and fuel nozzles in my cart and ready for purchase. I was ready to drop $400.00 on fuel canisters that were likely to tip over in my truck unless supported. So I decided to save money and buy this four pack of 5 gallon gas cans. I'm very glad that I did. Please ignore the nozzle. If you do not understand that you need to replace the nozzle on ANY post 2009 fuel can that you buy then please take to google and do some research on fuel nozzles. The CAN itself is great...better than expected. I don't understand reviews that claim that the can is thin. I thought it was a very thick gauge of plastic. I can stand on the can empty and I weigh 205lbs. I saved $260.00 by purchasing this (and new nozzles) instead of racing jugs (and all of the required accessories for racing jugs). The rear handle is fantastic for pour control, and the shape like standard gas cans prior to 2009 is great for sitting in the back of a vehicle without tipping over. I just wish I could write about EZ Pour Nozzles and tell you how awesome they are; how they have just the right amount of flex, and how they make these gas cans perfect for pouring into anything anywhere. I would love to tell you to purchase those nozzles and drill a vent hole on the seam of the center slant behind the top handle and then replace provided spout with EZ Pour Spout, but unfortunately I can't do any of that. I wonder what this can set up with and EZ Pour Nozzle would look like.

Quality plastic jug, but....
I'll start with the cons. What I got, is not what's pictured (see photos). The ad shows model 5600 with a red nozzle and I received 5610 with a black nozzle. You have to wonder if any of Midwest's Engineers have ever filled a gas jug. The "Flame Shield Safety System℠" (white screen insert) is the most idiotic and unsafe feature I have ever encountered in a gas can, putting aside the geniuses in California and the US EPA. The modern EPA mandated gas pump will not allow the can to be filled with Midwest's EPA approved "Flame Shield Safety System" installed. It is impossible. The EPA nozzle at the pump thinks this gas can is full and shuts off automatically thinking the can is full. That said, let's move on to the nozzle of the gas can. You will need 2 people to fill your lawn tractor. It is impossible to fill it without spilling it all over the ground, or crops, in my case. You have to push in the red clip, hold back the spring loaded nozzle, lean the black tab that holds the nozzle and then gas will trickle out. There is not enough air flow in, to let the gas out. When you do the pour, gas goes all over the the place, albeit at a trickle. Supposedly, it allows less fumes to destroy our air, but gas goes all over the place, that will destroy our waterways and water tables. Again, the EPA has never used these ridiculous spouts. This is 100 percent EPA mandated and not the fault of Midwest. Expect to spend another $10 modifying the jug.Now for the pros. The gas jug itself is a super thick plastic and built like a tank. After modifying it to my liking, it works like a gas can should. Expect to modify any brand gas can these days, but get one built like this one, sturdy.

Too many EPA issues
They look like a gas can. They really do. But geez with all of the rules and regulations regarding gas cans they DO NOT WORK. When I went to the gas station to fill up ...it took 15 minutes to get 1/3 of the container. I got so frustrated I said 'dodo' with a capital S. Then I tried to empty in my truck. The S word came out and a couple variations of the F word. Needless to say I sent it back.I would have kept it because of the handle BUT I looked inside that hole and a maze of plastic inside. Was it there to make it safe? I don't think so. I was ready to physically attack that gas can and I am not a violent person. So I thought I better pack this back up before my neighbor called the mobile crises center.

Great Gas Can Now !
I like the container, I replaced the spout, EPA requirement junk. I also added 1" chrome valve stems for a vent from ebay. works great now, just drill 1/2" hole for vent and add stem with rubber washer on outside!!!

Great Can - Terrible Spout (thank you CA & EPA)
Great gas cans with well placed and sized handles. However, like all EPA rated gas cans, the nozzle system is stupid beyond belief. I immediately replaced them with Ez-Pour spouts and solid caps so I can avoid frustrating spills and needing multiple hands to simply pour gas from a can into a mower or generator. The solid caps are best for completely sealing the cans while in transit or storage.

Good solid cans - I don't understand the haters
To all the haters in the reviews talking about the spouts - we get it. However, this is a government problem, not a product problem. As far as EPA compliant spouts go, these are the best in my opinion. They're made better by quickly using a pair of pliers to remove the red child-lock gizmo so that you don't have to mess with it when filling. If the compliant spout bothers you, you'll just need to get some ez-pour spouts to replace the ones that come with it, and that problem is solved. I, for one, prefer the slower flow of the compliant spouts so that when my wife and kids use them, spills are a lot less likely. In any event, the cans themselves are sturdy and well made, and came to me well packaged. Buying them in a four pack also saved a lot of money over buying them individually at the local big box stores.
