do these strips include glucose?

No, this strip does not and can not test for glucose. This strip is a universal wide-range strips measuring in increments of 1.0 pH units. These are recommended for when you have a diverse range of materials, and you are unsure what end of the spectrum you will land on. If you would like to test glucose you need to buy a glucose test strip. THIS TEST IS NOT INTENDED FOR TESTING BODILY FLUID. what exactly are these test strips used for ?

These strips are used to test the pH of aqueous solutions. It is a broad range strip so it is ideal for applications where you do not need to know the precise pH of a solution but knowing within 1 pH unit would be helpful. It is not ideal for applications where you are looking for a precise reading, but is a great quick and easy test for when an approximate value is enough. These strips do not require any calibration (unlike meters) and do not require the use of anything but the strips for accurate results. Some things it is NOT ideal for are: testing different kinds of water (ie: distilled, tap, and bottled), testing saliva or urine (we recommend getting a more narrow range test for that) or any health related applications. How effective are they for pool water?

It’ll give accurate pH readings. But this item is probably not what you want. There are similar test strips specifically designed for pools.
