I purchased this to replace the alternator in my boat. The wiring and bolt holes matched perfectly. What didn't was the pulley. I'm not sure why it has such a thin pulley, but that definitely would not have worked. It was odd, since everything else matches. I ended up having to take the pulley off the old alternator and swapping it out, but that's an easy enough fix. My boat is running like a top again, so the alternator works well. It fit well, minus the pulley and was easy enough to install. For about a third of the price, I think this alternator is a good value, as long as I get enough use out of it.

Works on 96 Mercruiser 3.0LX
Perfect fit, works great. I've only run the boat a few times since install, so I can't speak to longevity, but seems just fine.

Exact replacement for 1996 Mercruiser 5.7 Mando 12449
I took a chance and bought this for my 96 Reinell. It was a direct fit and the only difference is it is rated at 65 amps instead of 55 amps. Very happy with the fit and quality

solid unit, battery now charges. If it kept beer cold it would be even better but as far as alternator's go i guess it works as expected.
