Solid replacement option for Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system
Bought this as a replacement for my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 subwoofer as the surround had deteriorated after years of use. All my comments below are regarding this use case. As others have mentioned, for this application, it fits in the cabinet perfectly; the mounting holes line up, and you will have to adjust the connector coming off one of the leads from the amplifier to accommodate the tab on the speaker. No big deal - I had a kit of spade connectors at home, and it was a 30-second fix to change it out. Note you do not need to remove the amplifier from the back of the enclosure - simply remove the 4 screews holding in the old driver and you have all the access you need. The speaker grille no longer fits on the subwoofer driver though as this speaker has a slightly smaller mounting frame. It does not affect the operation of the subwoofer at all, it just makes it look a bit less pretty as well as it does not have any protection over the front of the speaker. Most subwoofers like this will be in low traffic areas anyway so not a big deal. The woofer sounds great, but if I had any complaint for this use case - is that you can't turn up the subwoofer level as high as I could with the OE driver - I have to keep the subwoofer level well below the white mark on the control panel if I'm listening at any kind of serious volume lever - otherwise you can hear the subwoofer reaching the extent of it's travel. Overall, for 35 bucsk to get the subwoofer back online is a great bargain and I'd buy it again.

Great replacement for Klipsch Promedia 2.1
First tried gluing a replacement foam surround on the original Klipsch woofer after it crumbled and it just didn't work out. It's a messy job, tricky to line everything up while glue dries much too fast, etc. Ordering this affordable speaker just a little more than the cost of the kit was SO much easier. It looks very well made and a great value. There's plenty of bass response and I don't even feel the need to turn the bass dial up more than halfway. Just a few notes: - Screw mounts line up perfectly and you can use the original screws - One of the connectors is a difference size then Klipsch, you can crimp on a new connector to the original wiring - To save some time and effort I just attached the original narrow crimped connector sideways so it grips the edge of the speaker's connector. Added some tight electrical tape around it and it seems to be holding fine - If you notice any buzzing after installation, check for air gaps in the case. Use silicone, etc to seal them air tight. - The original grill wont stay put, I've left mine open but you can probably use some shims + glue to make it work.

Good approximation of factory ProMedia subwoofer (with EQ help)
Matching my original 2010 Klipsch woofer specs seems unknowable but the DC160-8 QTS & Fs specs look better for the ported ProMedia cabinet vs. a popular GRS model I skipped. QTS is critical for matching a sealed vs. ported box. This one lacks the 35+ Hz flatness and full depth of the Klipsch original but break-in may loosen it somewhat. It can be made acceptable with a whole-system PC equalizer, fine tuning the lower bands. It definitely puts out 30 Hz per tone generators like Szynalski. For most music, I'd call it 90% as good as the original, and tighter sounding in some ways. Those who claim it can't handle the amp's power are asking too much of any 6.5" woofer in a large room. This was much easier than dealing with a dicey foam kit, with no big extra cost. I had to solder on the thin negative lead but the positive one matched the factory wiring perfectly. The original grill can be wedged in place or left off if there's no risk of hitting the speaker.

Replacement woofer for my Aiwa Exos-9
I used this to replace the 6.5" woofer in my Aiwa Exos 9 speaker after the foam surround separated. The dc160-8 is a heavier speaker with a rubber surround, more extension and the bass has more impact while refusing to bottom out or distort. Since the dc160-8 only has 4 screw holes, you will need to trim/clip off the two mounting tabs from your Aiwa box before it will fit.

Replacement for a dead Bose AM-5 Bass Module
Used it to replace a dead woofer on my bose am-5 bass module and it worked perfectly. There is a 0.5 ohm negligible resistance difference between the bose & the dayton. Bose speaker has the flat dust cover. Speaker mounting is the same as the original bose. I get the right boom from the module after replacement. Highly recommended.

Great speaker replacement for Klipsch 2.1 Pro! Just needs a short break in to come to life!!
Forget the rubber surround replacement, just grab this drop in woofer, so much easier for the same price. IT WILL NEED A BREAK IN PERIOD, the first few hours over a day or so will sound like crap, after that it'll sound as good as the original Klipsch sub. The amp is 6 ohms and this speaker is 8 ohms, so you should be fine, 6ohms to a 4ohm speaker is bad! The grill will not fit, just use some silicone if you want it mounted. Just remember, LOW volume bass for a few hours, for two days and after that, it should start putting out deep bass. I almost did a return, because it had zero bass, but after a few days of use, it is now working how a subwoofer should. Easy fix for the ground connection is to use a pair of needle nose plyers to carefully bend the arms of the connector slightly, until it will slide onto the speaker fitting.

Good bass for a 6.5
Certainly better build quality than OEM paper cone stuff.

Decent quality. Do not work in a small enlosure.
I have a killer stereo in my car 14 speakers, 4 amplifiers yada yada. I was hoping to get some mid-bass up front. I decided to experiment with a pair of these in small enclosures in the front footwells facing up. The simply could not give me any volume without distortion. I had way more power available than they can handle and it was applied judiciously. They simply did not contribute sufficient volume for my application.

Really good you get what you pay for performs well and does have some decent low air resonance bass to it that is quite like a subwoofer doesn't shake the house but definitely rattles the windows

A very underrated speaker!
Obviously, this driver is designed to go into a cabinet and when put into a 15/16 litre box with some bracing, a decent tweeter and a well designed crossover, this is a very impressive unit. It is quite surprising how much solid bass you can get out of a relatively small ported box. If you are looking to build a pair of speakers that isn't going to break the bank and want something that is going to out perform the majority of commercial units, then this is the way to go. Have a look at Paul Carmody's Classix 2 - do a Google search for Paul Carmody.
