Unless you mount this upside-down, which would be lunacy in a fuel tank, it will read full on the gauge when the tank is empty and vice versa.You could get a gauge with reversed resistance (I believe USA gauges work the opposite to UK ones)You could also get a gauge wizard to recalibrate it, which I already had, in which case it works fine.Just beware of its limitations though

Does not state in the description that this is a bottom entry unit. It is not one that goes in the top. If used as a top entry unit it will show your tank empty when full and full when empty.

This is a simple top mounted level sensor. Most tanks have correct mounting to screw it on. Obviously it has to have a matched level gauge.I use it as a fuel tank level gauge works perfectly.

I hoped when I bought this that I could access the inner sender electronics and thankfully this uses five reed switches that once you have 'dremelled' the sealing cement the inner unit comes out easily with lots of options to reconfigure the way the reed switches work. I've chosen to connect as 5 switches. This way the unit will work either up or downwards and in my case is able to trigger my flood transmitter.
