![The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection [Blu-ray]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81MAgk7eTzL.jpg)

Universally recognized as the Master of Suspense, the legendary Alfred Hitchcock directed some of cinema's most thrilling and unforgettable classics. The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection features four iconic films from the acclaimed director's illustrious career including Rear Window, Vertigo, Psycho and The Birds in stunning 4K resolution. Starring Hollywood favorites such as James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Tippi Hedren, Kim Novak and Rod Taylor, this essential collection features hours of bonus features as well as the original uncut version of Psycho for the first time ever. Review: Must buy if you like classic movies - They don't make them like this anymore! Great selection of key Hitchcock classics all in 4k and newly restored by the looks of it. We were astounded by some of the picture quality especially present in the birds and vertigo (parts looked like they were filmed just yesterday) however all 4 movies have never looked better overall. Great scripts, acting, stories and so well shot. Also come with standard blu rays with tonnes of extras. Why can't we make films like these anymore? Doesn't matter I guess as we can buy 4k restorations now. We shall be sure to be buying the other Hitchcock box set as well as looking out for other classics (I have to also recommend Spartacus and 10 commandments as well as 2001 of course). 4ks unfortunately don't come cheap however they have reignited my interest in films, and I would say this collection is great value and recommended if you are just starting out. Review: Perfect compilation of 4 classic in awesome quality - This 4K compilation is must-buy for Hitchcock fans. All four movies are excellent classics with great cast performances, dialogues and tension, quality picture and many extras telling the development stories of movies, which I always welcome, because I'm always interested how movies were made and how they were accepted back in their release date time. I really enjoyed all four movies in the package and thanks to good quality they don't seem like outdated too old pictures and Hitchock style of serving the story to audience feels fresh and worked perfectly on me again, even if I saw the movies some decades ago already. Package itself looks very good and language and subtitle variety is perfect. That's what I would call final definitive release and perfect presentation for all movies. Only small negative is probably confusing menu navigation.

Another sterling effort by Universal!
Despite Universal's amazing recent track record of 4k releases like Jaws and Spartacus, I was still sceptical about buying the Alfred Hitchcock collection on 4k. I also read a lot of comments online from people who had decided to wait for reviews before making a purchase. All i can say is, im glad i didnt wait! You can safely throw your standard blu rays away as this is now the only way to watch these films. Vertigo is my favourite Hitchcock movie and when this disc played for the first time in my player, the picture quality gave me a lump in my throat. It is that good! Its beautiful. It was like watching it for the first time. When the credits first roll up on Rear Window, my first thoughts were that it was going to be a depressing dud but as soon as the actual film starts its another cracker. A definite step up from the previous blu rays and the colour rendering is eye watering. There is definitely an uptick in picture quality with Psycho as well but it is not as apparent as the first two i mentioned. I have Its A Wonderful Life on 4k and that picture quality is better than what is represented here with Psycho. Thats not to say that Psycho isnt fabulous, it is, its an absolute cracker but there are better looking black and white films on 4k. I am not a serious expert reviewer and i dont calibrate my tv or anything like that, this is just my humble opinion for whats its worth. The final disc is The Birds and this one, whilst being a no brainer of a purchase and better than any other release of this movie, it does have its issues. The issues are obviously inherent to the original photography and not the restorations. Tippie Hedren's face for example, does appear to have a haze over it in a lot of scenes. Some scenes have that beautiful 4k-ness to them but the 4k does show up the primitive effects of the time and does diminish the smooth experience from time to time. Despite this, The Birds is still an amazing rendering on 4k, a definite step up and the only way to watch the film going forward. I would strongly recommend this 4k collection to everybody, whether you are a Hitchcock fan or not. If you are not a Hitchcock fan, what an amazing way to introduce yourself to the genius of this man's movies. I would love to discover these movies for the first time on this format. If you are already a Hitchcock fan through and through like me, please be prepared. There maybe tears. To see the love and care that the studios have shown these films is so heart warming. Watching Vertigo is like having cattaracts removed and seeing the love of your life again after twenty years. Those who are waiting for reviews of this collection, you are wasting precious time with your beloved films. Buy now, you wont be disappointed.

Mixed bag of 4k
If you like Hitchcock then these are certainly the best restored versions for sure. Vertigo is stunning, Rear Window and The Birds are good (not as stunning but still better than the blue rays....just). Psycho I found to be no different to the blue ray. If you are expecting a revelation in quality then prepare to be disappointed - with the exception of Vertigo...

Excellent 4K transfers
I already owned these films in ordinary blu-ray format. The 4K medium is really something else. Crisp clear images, with amazing colours (except in Psycho which is in black and white) and excellent sound. If you have a good reproductive system it is certainly worth the upgrade. The films themselves are some of Hitchcock's best. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous box set honouring a truly remarkable director....
Anyone who hasnt seen the genius behind the legendary Alfred Hitchcock's films should at least give them a try. This set includes 4 of his masterpieces and best known works in a beautiful box set packed with eye catching artwork on the inside. The films themselves are restored well and graining is minimal but you have to remember each one is hovering around 60+ years old. Personally I think tiny spots of grain add to the charm of these movies but thats for you to decide. The only thing I can fault with this set is I would have liked a bigger collection maybe including Dial M For Murder, North By Northwest & Strangers On A Train. All in all if you have a 4K player and want to know why Alfred Hitchcock was called 'The Master Of Suspense' and why he is one of the best loved directors of all time or even simply upgrading your collection... Buy it and see a true genius at work.... There will never be another Alfred Hitchcock.

Spectacular, well worth the upgrade.
The new 4K UHD versions of these movies have left me breathless. There is so much detail and texture, so much naturality in colors, beautiful celluloid grain...they are much, much better than the normal blu-ray editions. Of course, people who dislike celluloid grain and prefer digital alterations will not be happy with this, but those who love cinema as it was originally projected in theaters will love it. Sound is spectacular too.

These are all time classic films
All I will say is the quality doesn't look that much better than my Blu ray collection. But saying that they are some of the greatest, timeless films ever made and I am still glad I purchased this. Psyhco looks stunning in 4K black and white but the others are just about the same as Blu ray.
