Update at the bottom... purchased a 2nd bottle...Feeling guilty, I bought these in hopes of getting my never-tired 2 yr old to bed at a reasonable time, in further hopes that she would then sleep all night, meaning I would once again be able to know what it's like to sleep all night. My first 4 children (when I was younger and much more able to handle less sleep) all slept through the night by 6 months at the latest so having this sleep-hating up-3-times-a-night stubborn child as my caboose is kicking my CoolMama ass. This Mama loves her sleep. The first few times I gave it to her an hour before bedtime, she got calmer within 20 minutes and sat with me or a sibling and was quiet in general for a little bit and then went to bed without complaint. Did you hear me? WITHOUT COMPLAINT. She is a real complainer of bedtime, so that was a giant improvement. But she still didn't sleep all night, getting up once between 4 and 5 am. And I could live with that. But then, the 5th night that she got a Tired Teddie she became a Pinball, bouncing around and jumping and turned into a mini-tornado for about an hour. No idea why it was different. After the 7th night in a row, it just stopped having any good effect and she was still getting up so we stopped using it regularly. Still keeping it in case we decide to try again with that one. I think it has a lot to do with how much natural melatonin one makes and what their metabolism is like. On a night when we had a 2 hour concert for an older sibling, I had slipped one to the tot and to my 5 yr old mildly ASD son thinking it would just make him able to settle and sit through the concert.... nope, he was out solid in 15 minutes, he slept on the floor of the auditorium for the rest of the concert. Hubs and I later agreed it was probably because he metabolizes so fast (he's a wiry, tiny, skinny dude who's constantly moving). But, good to know that it worked...**Update August 2018:While I have never lost the Mom-guilt that I have for using this to help a child get to sleep, I have accepted that sometimes a little help is needed and ultimately beneficial. After leaving these on the shelf for a while with our sleep-hating 2 yr old toddler still hating sleep (see my original review), we now use them nightly, with great success. She has, in general, a very hard time settling down to sleep. She chews one of these (supervised) around 7pm, and we go about our normal routine - cleaning up, getting flushed and brushed and pajama'd around 7:45, sitting in bed reading a book or two by 8, then she is allowed to read by herself and she usually falls asleep with a book on her head by 8:15. We know the Tired Teddies are helpful because if we don't use one, she is still bopping around, has a difficult time completing her bedtime routine and is coming up with 10,000 wonderful toddler-reasons to be out of bed. With a Tired Teddie in her system, she gets gradually tired and falls asleep easily.

Finally sleep!
One month update- works like a charm and my sons pediatrician approved! So we are doing one at night for now and he wakes up around 3 and i give him another one. That’s the only way we make it through the night fully! I still would highly recommend this product to anyone. I have tried another melatonin brand and he woke up a ton in a panic/ like he had bad dreams. Just very restless on any other brand melatonin. So my 2 year old is an absolute nightmare at night. He always has been and it’s been mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting for this mama! (He’s my third & final child thanks to these sleep difficulties!)I got the okay from his dr at his two year check up to use less than 1mg of melatonin to see if it helps. I did some research and loved the reviews I read on these so we gave these a shot. First impression- they STINK! Like a strong overpowering cinnamon smell. My 7 year old won’t take it (but that’s fine she sleeps like sleeping beauty) my 4 year old will tolerate it but it is my picky 2 year old I was worried about since he hates all things. I told him it was bear sleepy candy and he ate it with no problem. I will say he gave it a good long sniff and really hesitated at first! Within 30 min he was a limp noodle Watching the tv. I asked him if he was ready for bed and he nodded yes. We did the typical bedtime routine and he was out within 10 minutes (normally it’s about to 30 min to get him to settle down and an hour+ total to get him asleep) …. And…. HE SLEPT ALL NIGHT! Now this was just night one and It may be a fluke but I don’t even care- I haven’t slept more than 2-4 hours at a time since he was born. I’ll take this one amazing night of sleep if it never works again. Will update my review if anything changes but right now - i highly recommend this product!

These things rock!
I am giving 5 stars because by all appearances these work as stated. One reviewer stated that melatonin or other sleep aids can give vivid dreams or even night terrors - well that may very well be but we have a 4 y.o., 2 y.o. and 1 y.o. and they all seem to have "suffered" from some sort of night terrors or nightmares or bad nights irregularly throughout the past 6 months or so, even the baby. We started giving these to them about 3 weeks ago and I can honestly say there has not been any increase in bad dreams or whatever whatsoever. But they definitely do help them all get to sleep easier and sleep more solidly and possibly even longer. I bought them for my 4 year old who since 2 has been a TERRIBLE sleeper. She is a night terror herself, she needs the sleep more than anyone yet fights it horribly and straight up says "I don't like sleeping" (crazy right?!) so she fights going to bed, some nights when she's particularly obstinate will pop up and bug us 4-5x's before her body just caves and she finally goes to sleep. And no matter what time she goes to bed, she was always up around 7am - and I mean sometimes 11pm after hours of fighting it. And then talk about diva feva. Not fun, plus no nap = misery. But she refused to eat these until just recently. The 2 year old just started having randon bad dreams or night terrors within the past 3 months or so, and would often wake early when he hears his sister get up, and be hell on wheels to try to get back down, no reasoning with a 2 year old. The 1 year is the worst yet, since birth she has slept horribly, up 2-3-4 times a night or more, will wake for a bottle, go into screaming fit mode within seconds literally, then 1/2 the time wakes herself up enough to think it's time to play and party, have a tea gathering, throw her bedding around and bang on the rails and talk talk talk. Chattering on for sometimes 30 + minutes, then fussy, then talking, until exhaustion & boredom take over. I was a walking zombie. So I started melatonin disolvables in their nighttime milk. It helps, but barely. Then randomly my husband pulled these out and decided to try again. WOW! Like I said, they all get tired within 10-15 minutes and are ready for bed quite easily and effortlessly, you almost need to rush to get them ready before you have a bag of boneless bodies to put to bed. 2 year sleeps solid and 80% of the time sleeps the 12 hours as needed.
