Plays so well
Outstanding, actually BETTER than a regular reed, unlike the plasticoated ones I tried once 10 years ago and hated. I usually play a 3 or even 3.5, but with these I found myself using a 2.5 because it's such a clear feeling reed. I don't know! You can just get away with playing it like a hard reed, with the sensitivity of a soft reed at the same time. None of that limp weak feeling you get from a soft reed.I'm not too technical on equipment I've always played whatever... but I did play saxophone in college so I would say I have a fairly reliable opinion.Reminds me of the first time I got a decent ligature. The difference is noticeable! Absolutely worth it compared to buying an expensive pack of reeds and only liking 4 of them without modification.

The American cut is an improvement over the other versions.
Legere keeps refining their products and this reed is an improvement over the other products in my opinion. It is freeblowing with a good core to the sound. I find that these American cuts are a little softer than the Signatures. So, if you normally play on a #3 cane reed like a Vandoren you would need to only go down to a 2.75. The other versions run harder than the American cut. I have several and I like them. It says for a jazz sound but it can easily produce a more covered legit sound.

Dynamic Range in Spades
I've been using Signature 2.5 alto reed and liking them. But I just tried my first American Cut. Legere claims it to be their "most" responsive reed and I think I have to agree. This reed lets me play more quietly than the Signature. Not sure if it will get louder though. Or how durable it will prove to be. I'll report back with an update in a few weeks.

Pleasantly Surprised
The reed sounds pretty good. Close to a cane reed. The reed is really picky about location on the mouthpiece so you might have to shift it to find the optimal seating - which is made harder by the reed being clear and tip is hard to see. But once it's dialed in, feels really good. One thing is the reed is slippery and has no friction on the lip, making the mouthpiece (no bite pad) slip around my mouth. The downsides are not a big deal. I'm mostly excited about having a long lasting reed that stays consistent day to day.

A little more sparkle than the Signature Cut
The American Cut is similar to the Signature Cut, but with a little more sparkle in the sound! The price seems a bit high, the highest price reed that LeGere offers. However, they have finally improved the packaging so the reed cannot bend or become warped during storage and transport. I suppose this makes the price increase worth it.

If you need a long lasting reed, this is it!
I'm pretty frustrated with the reed reed, so I gave the synthetic version a try, and there is no going back. True, it will cost you more, but it lasts for years, think about how much money it's gonna save you in the long run. Do the wise thing you saxophonists out there.

No wait to moisten
I keep the “reed” on the mouthpiece so that I can pickup my sax anytime I feel like playing without having to wait for adequate moistening of the “reed”. Also no bits come loose like a natural reed. Sound is fine as is the playability. I have a Legere on an alto and on a tenor sax.

Easy to control
Good tone and control. It didn't give me the edge/brightness I was looking for on my AltoSax OttoLink ToneEdge mthpc, but easy to work with nonetheless.
