- I bought these for my Storm Emergency Kit. I prefer the white for my kit.- the hook is nice so it can be hung on the wall, or hung on a line- These work nice when camping / backpacking because of the shelf life.- The light output is ok. Remember folks these are not intended to be super bright (like a flashlight). Search for another product if you need that type of light output. These are for a glow that is good enough to make you seen, bright enough to read a map, and long lasting enough to glow most of the night.

I bought these light sticks to go in my bug out bag and vehicle. I bought ten red and ten white. I tried out one of the white ones last night.They're activated with the standard "snap and shake" like virtually all glow sticks. These take a little more muscle to break than a recreational glow stick. That's one thing I like, I feel confident carrying them in a bug out bag without fear of accidentally setting one off.The light produced by these allegedly white lights is actually extremely pale blue. The stick itself looks white, but the light it casts is obviously blue, similar to those blue halogen headlights or a poor quality LED flashlight. The light is fairly bright. In a dark room, I was able to easily read a typical paperback novel by its light. I recommend using the wrapper as a reflector to keep from exposing your eyes to the direct light. It makes the projected light appear brighter.These would make a sufficient emergency work light. If you had to read a map, cook a meal, or bandage a wound, these light sticks would be sufficient in a pinch. I would keep them around for power outages.The one I tested was still giving off a useful amount of light after 10 hours, so I'll accept as fact the 8 hour rating.Bottom line: These are the real deal. All preppers should have a box of these.

I used these at an advanced firearms training event held through dusk and into the dark of night. They were used to mark the firing lines at various distances, as well as provide just enough illumination to see inside of range bags, diagnose malfunctions etc. without ruining our night vision. I've used other glow sticks that didn't last as long, but these lasted 8+ hours and were still going strong when we wrapped up. The red versions were used for similar purposes and worked equally well.

These light stick are honestly an amazing price & surprisingly quite bright! You can not beat it for the price & quality! I actually think they work better than some of the more expensive emergency light sticks out there. Great for nightlights with kids, great for emergency bags or party's, we've used these for all the above! These are the only ones we purchase on Amazon actually. The green ones are pretty amazing & bright too, haven't tried the other colors though, yet. Very satisfied.

I bought these for my hiking bag and car, and I'm not upset I did because these are the best! They're bright, don't take up a lot of room and are cheap.**The picture attached is the activated glow stick on the driver side floorboards. You can see that it's bright, and the best part is that this picture was taken during the day. So the floorboards have some dim lighting but not too much and that's the level of brightness I get?!? Recommend the hell out of this light

I have purchased the white, green, and red, Cyalume Industrial Grade light sticks. I am satisfied with all of the products. I noted that some vendors on Amazon are more expensive than others. Shop around, but stick with Cyalume. The red colored sticks are more appropriate as marking devices while the green and white sticks work well for lighting during power outages or working with in the dark. The red colored sticks worked great on Halloween for trick-or-treat visibility. I have had no duds in any of the packs and I am very happy with the performance! Cyalume is the only company I know of that manufactures light stick products in the USA. Most other light sticks are made in China.
