Walking Your Octopus: A Guidebook to the Domesticated Cephalopod (Brian Kesinger's Octopus Series)

Stunning. Awesome
I rarely get excited about a new book - I bought it on a lark, but am glad I did once it arrived. The art is not only gorgeous, but the story line is great. The book works for both adults and kids, and each page is a new treat. There's about twice as many drawings as you'd expect, and they're all magnificent and terribly witty.I immediately started over after the first "reading" which is very rare for me.It's far better to hold than just looking at the images on the web. The cover is rigid, and the paper far heavier than other books I have in this price range.I know this sounds like a paid review, but it's not. I just really love this book.

Wonderfully illustrated!
The book is full of wonderfully humorous and clever thoughts of what one could do with their pet octopus. Brian Kesinger is an artist for Disney and when you see his drawings, you will understand why is he gainfully employed by the company. It is a delightful book depicting the Victorian era where certain things would have been made much easier with the help of one's octopus, if one was fortunate to have one. Very inventive, it will have you smiling and giggling and perhaps thinking about it the next time you need a "helping" hand or two. The material is presented in a hard bound cover with thick richly colored pages. The reason I bought the book is that I have a young friend who loves to draw and her favorite subject is . . . an octopus. Now I have to admit that I loved the book so much I kept it and will have to purchase another one for my octopus lover. If the cover of this book grabs your eye, what lies within will surely have you smiling for a long time to come.

absolutely charming
I have not been so charmed by a book in a really long time. The art is amazing, the writing is perfection. It is a guide book for owning a pet octopus. Witty and fun. My children loved it as much as I did. You could frame every single picture in this book. Each one is a detailed piece of art. I am tempted to buy a second copy for that very reason. The entire book is a work of art, the binding, the cover, the whole thing is a treasure.

A Must Buy!!
This is fantastic!!! I actually bought this a gift for my friend who loves octopuses and she already wants the next book. The art is gorgeous, the story is cute, and it's very well-made. This book is not just for children that's for sure; I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a stunning, whimsical read!

The Victorian Lady's Choice Companion
An absolutely charming, delightful little book! For fans of Victorian-era illustration and fashion (as I am), and/or octopus enthusiasts (likewise), who appreciate liberal doses of visual humor (yep!), a sure-fire hit!Follow along with simple 'advice' as a young woman selects and raises her very own land-dwelling octopus. Be sure to catch the small references in the illustrations to C'thulu, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Yellow Submarine and so on.Utterly taken by this relatively thin but beautifully illustrated tome, I eagerly await the next book!

Beautifully Illustrated and Delightfully Cheeky
I love this artist and was not disappointed by this lovely coffeetable book. It is actually quite substantial and each page is beautifully illustrated with scenes of Steampunk/Victorian beauty Victoria and her friendly octopus Otto. All you ever needed to know about choosing, housing, maintaining, and befriending a cepahlopod is written out in fun narratives that accompany each illustration. Would make a great gift.

Absolutely Beautiful Art and Concept
I know Brian Kesinger is an award winning Story artist at Disney but I was unprepared for how much beauty I would find in this personal project of his. Steampunk meets picture book. I love it. The whimsical nature of the characters and the straight man delivery of the descriptive text is wonderful. I love the pen for the Octopus being an aquarium and how he "inks" on the floor. This is a non standard large and long size book which also makes it stand out. I have it on my coffee table and we love reading it. It gets my highest recommendation. You should do yourself a favor and buy it for yourself and then again for a loved one who really like good character art.

Beautiful 'Guide' for Raising your Pet Octopus
I had already seen quite some of the pictures in this artbook online, but wanted the whole collection in high quality, so I bought this book together with 'Travelling with your Octopus'.It's a lot of fun to read the small bits of text provided with each of the wonderful pictures which underline the humour of the book. Seeing Victoria and her pet Otto in different regular situations (at least if you're living in a Steampunk Victorian setting) is a lot of fun, the pictures themselves are very detailed and still very amusing to look at the second or third time around. The format is a little unusual, more cinematic than regluar book-shaped, but the book is definitely of high quality. Embossed, padded hard cover, high-quality, matte paper, and well-saturated colours. I certainly would buy the book again as a present, if I knew whom to gift it to.

Funny
From beginning to end, this book will make you laugh. From the pictures to the writing, all you will do is smile and laugh as soon as you start to read.Anyone from age 10 and up will enjoy this book, under 10 would be up to the parents, whether or not they would get to see it.The pictures are well illustrated and colored and the descriptions to go with the pictures are well written.I really enjoyed this book and so did my kids.
