The Corrs step back into the limelight with their stunning 2015 album White Light. Having sold over 40 million albums, White Light is their first studio record in over a decade. The album features 12 brand new songs that exquisitely mix that endearing, classic Corrs sound with modern pop and traditional Irish folk music. Highlights are many and include the gently political 'Ellis Island', a song already praised by Bono; and the evocative 'Gerry's Reel', an instrumental dedicated to their late father, Gerry Corr who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Hard to find, but well worth the purchase
Bring on the night is a track I find most identifiable with

They're not just back, they've become more "brilliant" than before
I'm always divided about the Corrs.A lot of their music is what I call bubble-gum pop. Fun, not terribly interesting. But their sheer energy, drive, harmony, and instrumental skill made up for any silliness. Like Mick Fleetwood said in the concert at the Royal Albert--their PASSION.Then they would do something like Borrowed Heaven or Dreams or the songs on the Home CD, and I couldn't do without them.As soon as I saw that they had come out with a new collection--White Light--I bought it without even trying to get a sample of the music. The first four songs are nice, and I listened with one ear. It was the Corrs. It's pop. Very good pop, with the unmistakable Corrs flair for lyrics, rhythms and harmonies, but pop. Then along came Ellis Island, Gerry's Reel, and Stay, and I choked up. I don't know why. I have NEVER teared up listening to the Corrs. They have grown!!! The lyrics are awesome. The songs are not just beautiful, they'ves got depth. It's passionate AND thoughtful. It's got "weight." Yes, the reel is thoughtful!!! I would've been overjoyed with the CD just for those three pieces. But then after Catch Me When I Fall, Harmony, and With Me Stay (or Stay v2), I know I'm going to go back and listen to this CD 100 times.

New Music from the Corrs. Finally! It was long overdue!
I discovered the Corrs ten or twelve years ago with their Royal Albert Hall DVD which I bought at our local used book and music store. They quickly became one of my favorite musical groups, and I soon acquired several more of their CDs and DVDs. But this is their first new release in ten years, someone said, so I wondered if it would live up to the standard of their earlier music. Some of the songs I did not love immediately, but as I listen to them again and again, they have begun to grow on me. Others, I immediately liked. One song, 'Gerry's Reel', I think, is an Irish instrumental that demands to be cranked up loud. Another song, "With Me Stay," is beautiful and keeps going through my mind, and I find myself singing it during the day while I'm working. This group is very impressive. It's hard to find anything negative to say about them. I would drive 500 miles to go see them in concert.FYI: I am a 66 year-old man who grew up on the Beatles, James Taylor, and Paul Simon. I think the Corrs would not be too out of place in this group..

139. Like they never left
There is no denying of the talent of The Corrs. Ireland's premium musical family group struck gold with their blend of traditional Irish folk and pop sensibilities. From the release of their magnificent "Forgiven, not forgotten" debut in 1995, their crossover "Talk on corners" (1997), to the enchanting songbook of traditional Irish songs (2005's "Home"), they went on to become one of only few Irish artists that really broke international boundaries and enjoyed mainstream success. With their 5 studio albums having produced hits that reached high in various charts globally, achieving gold and multi-platinum status, they have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide. Returning from a decade-long hiatus, "White light" is a most-welcome surprise, since it emerged rather unexpectedly, but mainly because it proves that they have not lost their knack for penning those irresistable melodies they are loved for.Starting off with the uplifting "I do what I like", any fan will be overjoyed by its anthemic, folky poppiness, while "Bring on the night" slowly gains momentum, despite loss and heartache running through it. The title track, a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, also carries some dark undertones, but there is a spiritual meaning in it for those who will listen more closely; one of the set's best moments, and a future single, I hope. "Kiss of life", another song channeling grief, is so beautiful, it just makes one feel grateful The Corrs are back again. Another highlights is the stripped-back, piano-led "Ellis Island", a song about Irish emigration. As surprising as it may be for The Corrs to be touching such a theme, this is a reminder of their talent; it is nothing short of stunning, and incredibly moving. "Gerry's reel", an instrumental dedicated to the siblings' recently deceased father, will bring to mind "Toss the feathers"; it is every bit as wonderful. The delicate "Catch me when I fall" is another romantic gem in the fashion of their early classics that will never grow old. As the album draws to a close, the percussive "Harmony", sees the band dealing with the ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland, while musically perfectly encapsulating what the band is all about. It is the final track, "With me stay", an acoustic version of the earlier uptempo country-tinged track titled just "Stay", that made me realise that, 10 years on, almost nothing has changed. The hooks, the harmonies, the Celtic undertow, the nostalgic feel; they are all present. The Corrs always tried to pair the flourishes of traditional Irish folk music with whatever was happening in the charts. On here they just repeat their trademark sound, refusing to make hardly any changes, except for the political thematology that they so subtly incorporated in the 2 tracks mentioned. As their fan since as early as their first single release, I wish they experimented a little. That is not to say "White light" is dull, or a wasted opportunity; it could not have been, they are too talented for that. It is just that they could have avoided some lyrical cliches, for example, given the time that has passed. And they could have, well, they should have chosen a much more inspired album artwork for this. Simple things like that. They are capable of so much more, if they set their minds to it, they need to progress, not remain safe, soft, and edgeless (which is why I am awarding "While light" with 4 stars). But then, the melancholy in the voice of raven-haired beauty Andrea, who continues to front the band with such grace, is reason enough to overcome or forgive their occasional missteps. The Corrs' sheer pleasantness, combined with Andrea's serene vocals make them impossible to dislike.

Fantastic CD
I ordered this CD for Christmas to give to my husband. He first heard the Corrs on You Tube and just loves their music. I ordered the CD on December 22nd and was not sure it would arrive on time. Amazon said it would be delivered on December 24th and it surely was. I couldn't wait to hear their new CD and see my husbands face as this CD had just come out. When we went to Ireland last fall we missed seeing the Corrs by 2 days. We bought one of their Cd's in Ireland that we did not have. This new CD "White Light" is really great and oh so relaxing. We just love to play the CD. I asked my brother and sister-in-law if they had heard of this Irish group and they said "no". I played the CD for them and they also loved. My sister-in-law is going to order for my brother. My husband and I are going to try and see the Corrs in person. I would highly recommend this CD!!!!
