Nomad nets are made using a mixture of carbon fiber and fiber glass. The result is a very lightweight and durable net. Nomad nets are built for the conditions that prevail where great fishing exists; they are waterproof, UV protected, and float like a cork. All Nomad nets come standard with a rubber bag. Well worth the money
Started with a cheap wood frame - nylon mesh net when I first started fly fishing, moved on to a wood frame plastic net and then "graduated" to the Fishpond net when the wood one finally gave out. Had several friends who had the shorter version of this same net (Nomad hand net) and they recommended the Emerger - it's a little more expensive ($20 or so) but the extra length is perfect for the fly fishing I do - wading in streams in NC mountains for trout (especially as I get older and getting down those last few inches to net a fish gets harder - or is it getting back up from those last few inches?!). The extra length works well for me for netting fish close in, and I find it is a great length to clip to either my waist or my backpack without dragging in the river or brush. Seems very well made and much lighter than my wooden version. Holes in net are also smaller at the bottom than my old net which I like (I had a few smaller fish wriggle through those which made getting them off the hook and released quickly an added burden - along with untangling the live after) and it looks like it is an easy switch out should the net wear out - although, it seems well enough made it'll last several seasons before needing it (I probably fish 10-15 times in fall and same again in spring).Overall, very pleased with it, light, well made and well thought out product (in terms of size of basket, net, length etc). My only real concern was with losing it - which is why I also bought a locking caribenar for both ends of the magnetic net attachment I use. Worth the money, wish I'd invested and bought one earlier on in my fly fishing life....

Top Shelf Rubber net with graphite handle
Yes it is light weight and more expensive than most nets. I wanted the longer handle, lighter weight, and deeper net, made with the light colored rubber net, to avoid hooks becoming snagged in the netting. I also wanted a name brand net that has a history of standing behind their products. Small fish will not be slipping out of over-sized holes in the bottom of this net, for they are all consistently small, and the net is plenty deep for even large 20" Browns. I bought this newt for creek, stream, river and boat use. It covers them all.

Would not buy again, but not because of quality issues
There were no specs in the description, so I went with the reviews and ordered it anyway. Big mistake. I'm 6 feet tall, 190 pounds, but I found this net to be too big for normal wading. I have fished big rivers and small streams from South America to Alaska. This net is more than needed, and it's too unwieldy for fishing in brushy area. The quality in and of itself seems to be excellent. Well constructed, although surprisingly heavy. The netting is tight enough to prevent small fish falling through like some nets. There is no cord of any kind for attaching to your vest or pack, but there is a hole in the handle to accommodate one.I returned it to Amazon within 2 hours, and the process was seamless. 5 stars to Amazon for the return process!I will probably buy this net in a smaller size.

Husband loves it. His favorite net.
My husband loves this net. There were many different options and ones that had a longer handle but they don’t have the wider deeper basket he was looking for. I got this as a wedding present for him and he has used it so many times and brags about it to all his fishing friends. I have my own net but have used it here and there and I love how lightweight it is. Even better that you can measure out the fish. My favorite part is that it floats.

Great net
Well built and easy to handle. Makes catch and release a breeze and non-traumatic. Got 2 magnetic lanyards (one for back of vest when hiking in, and one for front side of vest while fishing in stream) and they hold this net and allow me to switch back and forth easily. Longer handle on this net allows easy reaching out/down for a fish on the line.

Good reach, depth, sturdiness
This is my second Nomad Emerger, and the only reason it's my second one is because my last one fell out of my wading belt while I was fighting a large rainbow trout, which I had to grab like a bass. It floated away and is probably in the Gulf of Mexico now. Always been a fan of this net, the extra reach is helpful, will work in a boat, or when you are trying to net a fish for a buddy. If you do get into some truly large fish, the depth of the net captures them. I've had multiple two foot trout in there. Often times I've used this net as a big of a hiking stick when coming up steep banks, and yes, it's strong enough to do that. It IS expensive, but in my opinion worth the price. I think this is a net you could use for 5+ fishing seasons without repair.

good value for money
The hoop shape is a really good design for smaller fish like stream trout or bluegill, but it is also big/strong enough to enjoyably and safely handle a 36 inch carp (tested). It is light and the overall shape is very portable -- I like having a useful sized net without dragging a huge round hoop through the brush. It was obviously designed from the ground up by/for serious fishermen that pack in their gear.Great design and quality materials, one of my favorite fishing items.

Best net hands down! Epic!
Best fishing net I’ve ever used and probably the last one I’ll ever need! Amazing quality by the Fishpond folks! Lightweight, durable and it floats! Couple this with the confluence net release and it’s a perfect match! Some think it’s pricey but I feel it’s the best net for the money and I know I’ll have this the rest of my life on the rivers! Absolutely worth every dollar!!
