Detective Dee 3 Movie Collection

Detective Dee movies have excellant story lines, so I look for and enjoy the work. I don’t speak mandrian and depend on closed caption to understand what’s going on in the movie. Sometimes the CC is to fast but I catch the drift

Being a fan of Chinese movies and tv shows, I really enjoyed Detective Dee series: three movies The Mystery of the Phantom Flame, Young Detective Dee and the Rise of the Sea Monster and the Four Heavenly Kings. All these movies are great to watch and match sure that you have English subtitles on so you don't miss out on the action.Mark Chao is in the second and third movies of this series. He mostly known in Eternal Love aka Three Lives, Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, and most recently in The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity; which is great movie.If you are looking something fun with a lots of action then these three movies are for you.

All 3 of these films are great in their own right. They each have a very nice blend of Hong Kong martial arts action combined with some complex mystery elements that the main character "Detective Dee" has to solve. I won't get into the plot of each film as that would take too much time, but they are all very well written and feature some truly unique mysteries. Each of the stories have some pretty crazy/bizarre plot elements and a lot of chinese mysticism such as a serum that causes characters to spontaneously burst into flames, a virus that turns people into weird lizard monsters, and a talking kung fu deer(I'm not joking) just to name a few. And through all of this, our lead character Detective Dee has to sort through these crazy scenarios all the while having to use martial arts to fight off bad guys here and there in some great action set pieces. It's pretty entertaining and while it is strange at times, the writing very good and never feels too over the top or ridiculous. The action set pieces are very well done with some great fight choreography and wire work and have a lot of variety to them. A lot of it was even choreographed by famous action choreographer Sammo Hung if I'm not mistaken. While there is some bad CGI here and there, it is used sparingly, and most of the action is done with practical, in camera effects and choreography. Not to mention there is some really great set design and production values that really sell the film's setting. Detective Dee himself is also very likable and charismatic. In fact, all of the characters are fairly well written for the most part. So over all, these films feature some fun well written mysteries with likable characters and some great fight choreography and set pieces. Definitely recommended!

The subtitles are fast and furious in some parts as the Detective Dee is witty and sly and getting information out of people. The gorgeous set pieces steal the show. A fun watch. I have not watched the sequels yet. I hope they are equally enjoyable.

Only watch one video so far and am please. Movie video is crisp and clear. Audio is subedited in English with large print and good English. My order also arrived way before the date suggested. This is a good buy since its 3 separate dvd for the price. If purchase separately price would be way much more.

In all ....., 3 great movies. 😀I just wish the other two movies were in English audio too😩. So I wouldn't have to miss half the movie reading..😳🧐 but these movies are great to watch anyway..

Package was completely smashed dvd case was also completely smashed disks was alittle scratched looked like some ran it over with a Mack truck at least the dvds play.

This has got to be the most exciting set of Chinese marshal arts movies I have had the extreme pleasure to watch. A full 2 hours of mind-bending intrigue and incredible, breath-taking combat on each one, almost wore me out! This is a unique blend of the fantastic and mythological, with real life situations in dynastic China. They have it all: political espionage, murder at the highest levels, love interests, amazing babes, strange creatures and demons, and high crimes solved at incredible risk to life and limb of the hero, Detective Dee! I loved it!

Et bien avant Sherlock Holmes, car le personnage existait dans l'histoire chinoise et qu'il apparaît dans des histoires bien avant qu'Arthur Conan Doyle ne trouva l'idée de Sherlock Holmes.Deux excellents films dans un coffret pour un prix plus qu'intéressant. Que ce soit le premier ou le second Détective Dee, les deux films nous entraînent dans une Chine ou se mêle le fantastique, l'action, les arts martiaux. Même si les films sont un peu long, on se rattrape avec la qualité de la réalisation, de la chorégraphie des scènes, du jeu d'acteur, des effets spéciaux et de bien d'autres choses qui font de Détective Dee, une excellente saga.

Fun trilogy, beautiful costumes and settings with great characters with "mystical" powers. Family Friendly.

très bon film, je vien de découvrir et c'est merveilleux (pour moi) une enquète au millieux de l'empire chinois. c'est à la fois magique avec de magnifique séquence et nous somm en plein millieux d'une enquète ou se joue: la peur des légend, la politique et la prontitude à rendre des verdique (décapitation)on se retrouve comme sherloc holmes en pleine air ming, dans une chine antique. a enquéter sur des affaire iréelle. faut aimer le jeux des acteur chinois. mais pas besoin de connaissance particulière pour aprècier le film. laissez vous guider et émerveillez vous de chaque plan et de chaque décord
