can you access google chrome with the device in place?

Yes. This is similar to "master password manager". Once connected you enter your PIN to "unlock" your computer, if you configure that. Then it will ask to "log" your various userids & passwords as you go to various sites. I have mine connected to 7-port USB hub and have not had one problem. I highly recommend. I previously had a Microsoft fingerprint reader, but it fnally played out.I have not had any issues w/Chrome.
