Barron's Ap Biology Fourth Edition

If you have a child that has the temperament to go through this 1-1/2 inch book along with taking AP Biology starting two months before the exam, it will probably improve their score. Order it three to four months before the test as it takes weeks to get it from Amazon. This book reviews the material and has a number of practice tests. Tests can be tricky and this gives the child experience with the types of test questions they will get on the real test day.Let's just say, it should help their AP Biology classroom grade as well as get a better score on the AP Biology AP test.

This is a great supplement if you are taking AP Bio. It had all the new changes to the AP Test. I find that Barron's is the only book that includes every last detail you need for the AP Test. If you need help with the AP Class the other companies do a better job of breaking down the material into a simple way to understand. This is more for students that need to get a 5 on the test.

Barron's and Princeton Review are about the only two notable companies who make books for AP review... and this year Barron's was the only one who fixed their book to reflect parts of the revised Ap Biology test. They have done a good job of doing so and making sure that their text reflects the major ideas of the new test. Some people have complained that this is not good enough or that it is incomplete, but frankly, for a book made by a third party who is not acutely aware of how the exam will actually look, Barron's has done a good job.It covers all the material you need for the test (specifics, as well.), and this is especially helpful for students who have somewhat or fully incompetent teachers (as was the case with me). It's arguably more worthwhile than Campbell Biology, to be honest. This book combined with bozemanbiology (who has become the keystone for many ap biology students) is a great resource for information.I have done all four of the tests included in this book (two in text and two on the disk), and the result explanations are good. However, the explanations fail to have the detail necessary to really understand why a certain answer is what it is, unlike the Princeton Review books for history, etc. My only qualm about these tests is that the questions are a little too similar, with similar/ the same diagrams, and with questions which are either the same or are just somewhat modified in answers or phrasing. However, they are well-constructed tests which appear to reflect the new exam.My only other complaint is the typos. It may seem minor and unimportant, but this problem is an issue for two reasons. Firstly, it makes the book seem unprofessional and somewhat amateurish, which is just downright annoying. Secondly, it can affect the answers they give you. Today, I practiced a grid in which gave me an answer that confused me because the decimal was placed in the wrong position, which completely altered the way that I read the question.Overall, the book was helpful, but it's still unclear exactly HOW helpful it will be.EDIT:I received my score, and I got a 4 on the test. Mind you, this was after hours and hours of pre-AP prep. If they revise this book and sell a new edition, it could be really helpful for future students.

Great product. Better than any textbook you will ever use. Just start studying 3+ weeks before the exam :) Very good, long, detailed and covers the exam very well. I would buy it again if I ever need it.

This works as a comprehensive review book, but I am detail-oriented and there seems to be at least a few mistakes.

This saved me hundreds as an alternative to buying from my schools bookstore! The book was in excellent condition, I have no complaints!

There is still a small textbook's amount of information in this review book, so short and concise aren't some of its features. This review book is awesome and just what I needed, though! Start studying early so that you can actually soak this information up. Barron's is a great review company but like I said, EVERYTHING you will need to know for your AP test is in this book, so give yourself time to study it all.

I gave this to my daughter who just took the 2014 AP exam (from Spring, 2014) as a midterm in her junior-year AP Bio class. Even though they're only half-way through the year, she made a 4 on it!! She attributes her success to this book. Really helped her because her teacher is....let's say, less than ideal. She relies on this aid a lot.
