The FRAM HP1 has been around for a long time. I continue to use it i my off road car for its quality and price. I've never had an issue with it in use. I like the slightly added capacity over standard filters as well as the added burst strength.

price jumped 50% after purchase. No other filter seems to fluctuate this much in price.

I opened up this filter to see what it's made of. Despite the negative reviews i saw, this filter is heavy duty and was a bear to cut open. All the internals are quality made. I use it with my performance vwac motor.

Perfect for my remote oil filter on my 1971 VW bug.Cons:I have purchased six of these in recent weeks. Two never arrived but were replaced quickly by Amazon. Three of the six arrived in beat up torn paper packaging. The filters, however, were not damaged.

I do not have an auto parts store that carries this filter near me so I have to order them online. This filter gets great reviews and I agree. I use this on a car that I do not log in many miles and I change the oil VERY often. The oil comes out clean and this filter withstands being mounted directly behind a rear wheel.With all of that being said, if my engine blows up due to an oil related failure I will hunt the people from FRAM down and possibly go after their families......
