Beautiful, bright display with vibrant colors.
These are excellent monitors, and at this price point, there is simply not a better deal out there.

Affordable high performance gaming display
Asus VS248H-PThe VS248H-P differs from the VE248H due to the lack of onboard speakers. The VS248H-P has a higher contrast ratio and more advanced power savings (reduced power consumption). That said, the VS248H-P also has a stereo output jack, which I use to feed HDMI audio into a 2.1 speaker system when playing my Xbox 360 games. The VS248H-P uses LED backlighting, which is now commonplace although it was just starting to hit the scene 4-5 years ago. The VE246H I purchased just about 2 years ago did not have LED backlighting, but I can't really tell the difference. I detected zero dead pixels, and the overall quality is great as expected with Asus products.I like how the VS248H-P has its connectors facing the rear of the display, so I no longer have to try and look under the display to hook up my ports. The power and control buttons are underneath the display bezel but are still intuitive enough to use. The base is very solid and easy to install. The tilt adjustment is very smooth but secure and stable. The display response is fast enough for gaming, and I don't notice any ghosting. I find it perfect for use with my Xbox 360S as well as my PC.Overall: 5/5 stars, very affordable but high quality display suitable for gaming!

These look amazing
For a while I used a 26" Samsung TV as my desktop monitor because it was given to me for free when a family member no longer needed it. That replaced my single 22" Acer monitor that I was using before that. So at that point, I had a 26" and a 22" monitor together and that looked like crap. It worked for what it was, but having two different monitors hooked up together does not please the eyes one bit.So after a couple years and once I had enough money, I got sick of that and bought two of these Asus monitors to replace both of my previous ones(and turn the Samsung TV into what it was made to be, a TV). These monitors look awesome. They definitely have way more color than my Samsung TV, as I noticed when I was playing Diablo 3. With the Samsung TV, everything looked kind of dull and flat. I didn't notice at the time since I didn't have anything to compare it to, but once I got these monitors it was like day and night. They just look so much better in every way. I was a bit worried if everything would feel cramped by switching from a 26" 1920x1200 monitor to a 24" 1920x1080p monitor, but it doesn't. It actually feels like everything fits on the screen better and just looks nicer in general.I've played a lot of games on them(Diablo 3, DOTA 2, Dishonored, Crysis 2, and more...) and there is no ghosting problems or anything like that. Everything is fluid and there isn't any lag time between my input and what happens in the game.I ordered two of these at the same time, and one came without any problems but the other had a stuck green pixel. I've tried every method I could find to remove it but it wouldn't go away. I asked amazon about it and they offered to ship me a new one and said I could ship the defective one back after I got the new one. The new one came in perfect condition, so I shipped the original defective one back and have been using these every day since without any problems. It's been about 4-6 months since I bought them and they still feel and look brand new.The only complaint I have about these is that they both don't seem to be the same height. They're the exact same monitor, but the one on the right looks like it's about 5mm lower than the left one. It isn't really a problem at all but it would just be nice to have them line up 100% perfectly. It may just be because they're tilted a different way, so I might be able to fix it, but it isn't annoying at all really so I haven't bothered with that.So if you're looking for a new monitor, get this one!

Good value, not perfect
[This is a review of the VP229Q, the 75Hz IPS model. The same Amazon listing also includes a different model which has a TN panel.]Works well, no dead pixels. I like the physical design a lot, although the stand is a little wobbly so I stacked some decks of cards up under the corner to keep it from moving. Built-in speakers are pretty bad quality but I wasn't planning to use them anyway. If you're just trying to watch a youtube video or something they'd be fine. The backlight is a little uneven (slightly darker at the top middle) but it's not a big deal. You can kind of see it in the picture I took, but keep in mind that the middle doesn't really look that much brighter in real life.On black backgrounds you can see some "IPS glow" where the corners look lighter than they should. And if you're sitting close to the monitor and look at the edges there's a "shadow" effect because of the gap between the backlight and the panel. From what I've read online these are both common even on more expensive IPS monitors though, and neither is very noticeable in day-to-day use.75Hz is noticeably smoother than 60, and G-SYNC seems to work as advertised. There's a cool feature built into the monitor where you can show a chart of the FPS to make sure it's working correctly. I don't really have the equipment/knowledge to measure color accuracy and pixel response times, but both seem pretty good. I found the various display modes a little confusing, since some settings (saturation, color temperature, etc.) are only available on certain modes. There's an "sRGB" option, which you'd think would be the most accurate, but if you pick that you can't adjust the brightness and as far as I know it's not factory calibrated or anything anyway.Overall I'm pretty happy with it, but not blown away. For the price though it's hard to complain.

Great monitor
great monitor. I use it for office work and it has a good picture quality. I don’t know if it would have a good picture for gaming, but for office work, it’s perfect.

My eye's never hurt
Been using this for the past 3 years and my eye's never hurt once when using it, but then again rarely do they hurt when looking at most monitors nowadays, still the odd thing will cause strain but overall its a good little 75Hz monitor. Its very nice that it has Display port, HDMI and VGA, especially the VGA part because that means I can plug some older stuff into it as well. Its nice that it has speakers built inside but they are really quiet so its really hard to hear anything better than not having them at all (as that is what I was using till I got a set of speakers, which was the plan)Its nice to have the 3.5mm headphone jack, its what I use to plug my speaking into and free up space at the back of my computer to have my headset always plugged into (no more plugging and unplugging or having wires hang off the front panel of my PC making it look more clean, 69 Nice!)I have yet found a use for the D-Sub PortDon't really care about the free-sync/adaptive-sync, I haven't used that feature much

I can hardly imagine that this monitor will disappoint.
I've had this monitor for years. Since 2011. I finally have a bit more disposable income and decided to drop some money on a second one of these.I do a respectable amount of gaming and find this monitor to be perfectly adequate. I'm not an FPS/CSGO gamer, so if this monitor is somehow insufficient for those then I am blissfully ignorant. For all else, I can hardly imagine that this monitor will disappoint.
