Madagascar (Bradt Travel Guide) Paperback – November 15, 2020

Madagascar is hidden gem but only for those well traveled in some difficult countries. You need a guide and this one suits the bill.

This book is rich in background information and covers a good range of the country. However, for a guidebook, I guess many people are looking for accurate practical information. From my recent trip to Madagascar using the book, I was disappointed by the inadequate info on two important areas:1. According to my tour guide, it's impossible to see the fossa around March as they're hidden for breeding. The book doesn't mention this. Instead, it says "...you’d be unlucky not to see them around the campsite...", giving the impression that it's highly possible to see the fossa in Kirindy Reserve year-round.2. Andranomena Special Reserve has been closed to general tourists since COVID-19 (it's only open for special requests from researchers). However, it's still listed in the book.Hopefully, the next edition will provide more accurate practical information for average travelers.

Guida esauriente, con taglio accattivante. Scritta da profondi conoscitori del paese. Moltissime curiosità ed approfondimenti. Alimenta la motivazione al viaggio. L'unica pecca è ovviamente la lingua: la lettura risulta impegnativa se non si è fluent (il mio caso).
