Brilliant product would recommend
I bought the Vantage V2 just before Christmas to replace an earlier Polar product. I’ve normally used a chest strap for HR, but thought I’d give the V2's optical HR a go. I’ve found this to be fantastically accurate and I’m really pleased. Running Power is also really interesting when doing splits on hills: I’ve found it to be a real motivation. Music controls is also a helpful addition (I always carry my phone in a pouch for emergencies when far from home). The battery life is sensational and I don’t really find myself checking it very often, as it seems to last forever. As the weather warms-up, I’ll also hope to use it cycling (I’m a fair-weather cyclist!) and in the gym (when it re-opens). The V2 is stylish on my wrist, so I’ve been happy to wear it at work (although that’s often in the house at the moment!). All-in-all, I’m really pleased with my upgrade.

An excellent device for serious Athletes
A quality product that excels with tracking the vital information needed for serous runners and athletes. I’ve owned a number of these devices over tha last 10 years including apple devices and Garmin and whilst these devices are also premium products, Polar suits my needs more than anything else. Simple to use but offering feedback that is vital for any serious user at an affordable price. Honestly one of the best investments I’ve ever made along with quality shoes etc. Don’t hesitate if you’re looking for a device to track anything from a 10km up to a 100km, a squash game or a 12 rounder on a punchbag. I’ve done them all! The vantage is up to the task. Thanks polar!

I love it but its over priced
Ok, I am a regular runner and I have replaced my 3yr old Suunto watch with this model. For me, all the improvements I wanted over my old watch are here. Built in GPS Very long lasting battery, it must have been a fortnight before the battery went down to even 40% AND it is very quick to recharge with a beautifully easy to connect charger, my old Suunto model was torture to charge Another critical feature for me are nice and easy to press buttons, the last thing I need are to have to double check that I have pressed pause etc. For those of you with younger eyes, the screen display is very useful and adaptable for those of you who love to peer endlessly at the stats, distance, pace, HR etc while running in front of a car. Then there are a load of features which are of no interest to me like music control, weather and phone notifications all of which I have turned off. Also it has the rest of the now common features which I find of no interested like sleep tracking. Using the app, the manufacturer are clearly into arming the user with information, I have used many apps and I have to admit that this one has the largest set of feedback stats I have ever read. I know some very serious runners are into this and I do like feedback saying Great pace, and info on Training Load, VO2 and all the rest of it, but all I am really interested in is distance and pace stats. Its also got a nice version of Relive which puts the stats on an animated summary of your run. There are a lot of other potentially interesting stuff like Hill Splitter, route guidance, nightly recharge feedback and leg recovery tests, but I find this stuff of only passing interest or its fairly obvious, so I am not impressed. Overall its a great watch, but for me and the majority of regular runners I know its well overpriced for the features that actually matter, especially at the moment when there are great deals around. And most importantly, it uploads to Strava.

Display Brightness is appalling and dismal
I was excited to purchase the Vantage V2 after falling for the advertising and pictures on the website so let down with the quality of the display which was so dim it was impossible to see the time & stats either I received a faulty watch or this is how you can get 100 hrs of use as advertised there are no brightness controls just dim and dimmer even with the backlight on or in a well lit area. GPS and the stats synced to the phone with the app was impressive gets a star just for that but it is no good if you can not see the stats and time on the watch during exercise. Returned for credit left disappointed for a premium price extremely poor display

As tough as they claim
Good price, quick delivery and well packed. The watch has great functionality once you get a hang of using it and the web interface. Exelent build quality and seems to actually comply wil the mil spec iv tried other watches that claim mil spec but don’t match up.

If not an outdoor fitness person, normal smartwatch probably fine
This is a top-end, very expensive smart-watch, retailing at £450 at time of writing. Made in Finland and advertised by F1 driver Valtteri Bottas so must be half decent. So....I opened the box and inside is some instructions to get started and the watch. Underneath is a cardboard area containing the charger/USB adapter. Mine had some charge on it when I got it so you can download the desktop client, connect the watch to the computer via the USB cable or download the smartphone app and connect via Bluetooth to set up. I went the smartphone route which was very easy. It set up quickly and that was it. Enter some stats about yourself in the app (weight, date of birth, sex, height). Note: I've yet to find the ability to explicitly turn it off or on, it appears to be on all the time unless there is no power. When the watch loaded I had a quick scroll through the screens - I ended up having to refer to the manual for button usage as it wasn't intuitive. The screens are basic and built in menu has refreshingly few options. Now, I'm comparing this to my Samsung Galaxy Active which has a plethora of built in apps and plenty of 3rd party ones available. This doesn't. It's a hardcore fitness tracking watch with GPS. I found the screen really dull, nothing like the advertised picture. There is a button to increase brightness but not by much. I've since discovered that you get the level of brightness when held under a super bright light (or sunny day) so that sort of makes sense. Functionally, I tend to only train indoors either doing HIIT or on a treadmill. While it picks up steps, to record my proper workout, I had to select the activity on the watch as I was about to start. Interestingly, it measured the distance I covered at about 5.12km rather than the 5k I did so not sure if treadmill or watch is out or has a margin of error. After my treadmill workout, it passed the data/calories burned to MyFitnessPal (which I had set up in the app) but interestingly DOESNT pass information on steps done to MyFitnessPal. That's a tad annoying. I've worn it sleeping and in the shower. It's fully water proof, as it is meant to be. I find tracking sleep is gimicky. I KNOW if I've had a bad sleep or good sleep, I don't need a watch to tell me. I also find wearing any watch uncomfortable when sleeping. As a major feature of this watch, I find it unnecessary and won't improve your life. The heart rate monitor seems accurate but can breed paranoia! It defaulted to control Amazon Music but not yet found how to adjust for YouTube Music. The app sync feature is average. You can see more info on the app. When I did the treadmill run, it was interesting to see when fat v carbs was being burnt so that is useful if wanting to do proper training/weight loss. The sensors to monitor heart rate are less bright/flashy than my Samsung which was a bonus. They blind you on the Samsung! Overall, not sure what I was expecting of this watch but unimpressed. I think many features are wasted on me. I generally know how to run, lift weights, recover as my body feels the need to. I know when I've had a good or bad sleep. I get the weather and music from my phone. Pros: Looks good, not too heavy, GPS Cons: cost, strap is more difficult to get on/off than it should be; screen is super dull; features are unimpressive

Very dim display
Simply, if I can't easily read the display I can't use the device (Vantage V2). Tinkered with backlight setting and that made a slight difference but it was still not as visible as on my Polar 430. The navigation buttons were not particularly responsive but touch screen was smooth. Seemed nicely built overall though. Now superseded by V3 but far too expensive for my needs. Purchased as a warehouse deal for great price and maybe there was an existing issue with the display. Returned without any problem. Usual great hassle free Amazon service.

Easy to use, great watch
Vantage V2 is a fantastic piece of kit. Much easier to use and set-up than my previous watch. The training plan is keeping me on track, the heart rate is accurate and instant. GPS works well. Training load and sleep metrics give lots more feedback. Its also easy to see progress in the Flow app and more detail online. Would recommend.

Eccezionale

Great deal!
Very satisfied! Many detailed info after training sessions. Vibration is so much better than my old m430 had, alarm wakes me up quite well! Touch screen is very sensitive, especially in the shower, messes up sometimes, not sure how it works under water?? Otherwise, really impressive battery life, good looking, comfortable and I love its wristband.
