Is the lid metal or plastic? I don't want to burn myself when closing the lid. Thank you

The lid is chrome on the outside & plastic on the inside. It gets warm to the touch but in no way would it burn you - BUT - this kettle has a button to press on the handle which opens the lid & one can close the lid by pushing it lightly down. There is even a plastic strip on the lid to press down on, so no danger of burning yourself at all if the above is followed correctly.

Is this energy efficient where you can boil one cup at a time like the deign line ergo?

Yes, useful for one cup of tea. But if I need to boil a full kettle i find it to heavy to lift with one hand. It requires me to use two hands and sometimes I burn myself if I have not managed to get hold it in a certain way.
