Used for lifting a lid on a build in bench to allow storage underneath. Works perfectly.

When you first get these, and you try to open them with your hands, you’ll think “These things will hold back a car!” Eh…. Not so much. I used these on 2 different knife under cabinet mounts. In the defense of the springs, the weight of just the board and magnetic bar is pretty heavy, but at that point they would hold them up. But when I added the knives, measuring spoons, etc they don’t hold. I even put 4 magnets on…. Nope. So I just added a latch. If you decide to make one of these for your house, make sure to use thin/light wood for the base, you’ll need some thicker wood as a frame and to have something to screw into. Oh! Also there is a left & a right. (Dad and I had some good laughs putting these up!) Another tip, if you end up putting in a latch…. Do it on the side not the middle, in front like I stupidly did (rolling eyes emoji)

Item didn't come with any directions, But I didn't look on the sellers site for any. I tried to follow a user instructions but they were incorrect. What I did was use a washer in between the end of the apparatus and the top rear of the trunk I made and it worked perfectly. I figured the small distance from the back would give me the clearance I needed when the top was opened. Very Good for the price. Now all I need to do is upholstery the top! 😀

The product by seems fine and sturdy. But I need some installation instructions. I have been able to install one but it needs to be redone as the clearance of the bench lid is not accurate. If anyone has advice on this I’d really appreciate it

Its a great product but it comes with no instructions for installing plus no screws. It dont hold up much weight plus it been better if it lock in upright.

Used to support a 1 1/4” thick by 17” poplar bench top. 2 hinges can do a 32” slab on there own, no more than that. You should include instructions. What I found was: Place the side of the hinge by keeping the rear 2” away from the back of the wall. Then for the bench top: place the first screw at 2 1/8” from the rear, then the 2nd screw at 4 5/8” from the rear. When doing side to side measurements for the top screws trust the dimensions of the screw hole closest to the rear wall and twist when fastening to the top to line up ( this is only going to make sense when you have these hinges installed at the side locations and you are placing a tape measure on top). Give yourself 3/16 gap between surfaces to the left and right of your bench top, otherwise they will rub. These measurements only work if you have a bench top that has a 15 to 17 degree back cut. You need 3/8” clearance at the top of the bench to the wall for the hinges not to bind. If you don’t want to do a back cut then you need to increase the distance that you place the screw locations from the rear, try 2 3/8” for the side bracket instead of 2”. Hopefully this helps someone with their project!
