Great book for kids
I love this cookbook. It is a small book, but I find that a pro. Too many recipes can be overwhelming for kids. And, yes, there are some duplicate recipes. I own all of the Forest feast cookbooks and my kids don’t give much thought to them, but this book belongs to them. That ownership really changes their perspective. I have one son who is fairly picky, but started planning meals from this book and enjoying them! He discovered he loves peppers after making the pesto pepper pizza (even though I have been pleading with him to try them for years) and the kale and black bean tacos and butternut squash quesadillas were a hit as well. I find it easy to sub out ingredients if you cannot find them. Sweet potato works just as well as squash. Any apple can be used in a recipe that calls for them, and so on... I am very pleased with this book. If you want your kids to get in the kitchen more often and/or try new things, I’d say this is the book for you

A great book with some minor issues
This is not our first vegetarian kids' cookbook, but it's a welcome addition to the library. I was hoping it would be a better fit for our family's cooking style (and less patronizing) than " Pretend Soup and Other Real Recipes: A Cookbook for Preschoolers and Up ", and it is that.Pros:-- the pictures, OMG-- ease of recipes-- the pictorial instruction style is easy for kids to follow-- the prep guide in the front matter is amazing-- the suggested party themes/menus are a lot of fun-- written FOR KIDS, not for adults to guide kids (new readers can probably use it all on their own)-- fun, unusual ideas for beautiful foodCons:-- questionable seasonality (asparagus and sweet potatoes and cherry tomatoes all on one party menu?)-- REALLY expensive to do a lot of cooking from due to a reliance on striking produce colors-- not a good resource for CSA-head-scratcher veggies (no eggplant, no beets, no turnips, no celeriac, no kohlrabi)-- sometimes the prep pics show radically different food from what's in the final dish photo ("Red Salad" shows a Red Delicious apple in the prep pic but a Fuji/Gala-type apple in the finished dish), which can be confusing for literal-minded younger childrenOverall, we really enjoy this book, and my small chefs (6 years old) LOVE to look at the pictures even when it's not their night to cook.

Beautiful companion book for my young daughter!
My daughter (6 years old) got SO EXCITED about this book. It came in the mail and--30 minutes later--she and her dad are at the market buying the couple things she needs (that we don't already have here on hand) to make three of the recipes tonight for dinner. I have the original book (and have bought it as gifts for couples) and this one is a beautiful companion that is special for young kids. I don't mind what the others have pointed out about a couple repeat recipes. This is the first cookbook my daughter has owned (and she has a bunch) that she immediately declared she wanted to make a whole meal for the family with. And I should mention that, while we tend to eat really healthy and heartily at home (mostly veggies from area farms--my husband is a chef, so we get directly from farmers, a CSA, and our own garden), my daughter is super stubborn and picky. We bend over backwards trying to involve her in gardening, shopping, cooking, etc. to encourage her consuming more fruits and veggies, but it's an ongoing challenge. This book really spoke to her, which made me very happy and immediately believe this was money well spent! I will stock up on a few more copies while the price is low for birthday presents for her school friends! Love it!

Beautiful book
This book has beautiful illustrations and is very simple for kids. My 5 year old was excited by the pictures and recipes and I was relieved how simple the recipes are.

Beautiful Book
Gorgeously illustrated. It has really inspired my 4 year old to want to help me in the kitchen. The binding is a little weak in the book itself, but I think if we’re really careful with it (it’s going to be staying in the kitchen anyway, so I’m not worried about that), it will hold up just fine. Yummy, simple recipes that don’t involve junk food!

REPEAT RECIPES
I did not expect there to be so many repeat recipes from Erin Gleeson's first cookbook in this one.I enjoyed the recipe ideas and simple instructions in The Forest Feast, so when I saw there would be a kids cookbook my initial thought was "this will be fun and easy for the kids to learn to cook from." And it may very well be---they have helped me cook from her first one.The layout mimics the original book and is presented with Gleeson's stylish visual layout. There's just no "WOW" factor for me.All this said, I bought this for my kids to encourage them to cook so my hope is they will enjoy having their own cookbook. Since it was delivered last night they haven't had a chance to see it yet, and perhaps they will just be excited about it, since its about them.

Just Wonderful!
I purchased this for my grandaughter age 11 yrs. and she is thrilled with it. My daughter also thought it was great and will make recipes for the family from it even when my grandaughter doesn't use it.

It’s a great book for kids
It is a very attractive book with engaging pages. You can do it with your kids. Or if they read let them do it themselves.

Just like the first book
The book arrived on time in good condition. The first Forest Feast book was 100 times better. I felt like this book was a waste of money. I have the first book, and I wish I didn't order this book for kids because it's just like the first book, nothing special about it if you already have the first book.

Good choice for children and their mothers to enjoy together
Good choice for children and their mothers to enjoy together. Does require adult supervision. (Looking is one thing, cooking is another.)
