Yeah the cable will probably work with windows 7, whether or not you can find any radio programing systems that will may be another issue. The cable is simply a cable it will convey what ever electronic signal is input across it.

Connects UV5R to PC

works as promised, it simply connects my Baofeng UV5R to the computer. Very useful for programming the radio with a computer. It is a necessary item as Baofengs are not intuitively easy to program without a computer. It is compatible with most Baofeng hand helds.

Chipset information, compatibility and Windows 11 warnings

This programming cable should work with any of the following radios, but check before using:Anytone, BTech, Baofeng, Kenwood, TYT, WouxunThe chipset being used in the one I got on 9-MAY-2025 was a CH340. Windows 11 loaded the driver automatically, and it worked without any issues. I deducted 1 star because the cable feels cheap, kind of soft like it won't last very long. I am hoping I am wrong, but every cord I have ever felt like that ended up degrading and splitting from UV and handling. I bought the orange model so I could easily tell it from all of my other cables.If you are buying a programming cable to use under Windows 11, be careful with the Prolific models. To my knowledge Windows 11 only supports the PL2303 HXD, SA, RA GC, GS, GT, GL, GE , GD, and GR chipsets. None of the other older chipsets will work under Windows 11.Hope you found this helpful.

Works on Linux, but if you have problems you're on your own

Works on Linux Mint 22.1. I'd tell you how, but they wouldn't let me post links directly to the chirp website, neither to links explaining how to get past tty port issues. They said I broke the rules. I guess they don't care if you know how to use this device or not on Linux.
